View Full Version : Is anyone else excited about Max Payne 2?
I just recently rebought Max Payne because there were a slew of mods I wanted to try out and I wanted to see how it looks on my new machine and I realized how awesome a game it is. Now imagine Max Payne with Half-LIfe 2 physics and modern-day graphics - the game would rule! I can only imagine that the kings of gritty John Woo-style action are even furthering this coolness with Max Payne 2. I hope it's chock-full of physics and gorgeous bullet-time.
SCREENS, PLEASE!

Very excited. Infact perhaps more than I am for any other announced game.

Dunno where I am in regards to MP2. I would like to know what's different in the new game. I'm intrigued, but not necessarily "excited" as I am for...say....DX2, Thief 3, or STALKER.
Supposedly it has ragdoll physics though, and I'm a big-time ragdoll physics whore...so.... images/icons/grin.gif

not really, I don't even see how a sequel is possible in regards to the story of MP1. Sounds like a ca$h cow to me.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">What Bishop said, "a film noir love story" is what the giant E3 banner said.

ya, shouldnt it be "a game noir love story"?
images/icons/blush.gif what if max payne 2 is actually a movie!??! images/icons/tongue.gif
Hey, all the classics are based on love. It's what makes the world goes round. Theres an attitude of pessimism nowadays in that love isn't enough to base a plot on anymore. I personally think it'll be suitingly old-school if Max Payne 2 is a film noir love story.

I don't kow enough about it to make a judgement one way or the other. However, the fact that it's coming out so soon after the original leads me to suspect that it's just more of the same, and while the original was terrific, I would prefer something new for the sequel.

those are my feelings as well. hopefully they can expand on what they have created with more than just some new gimmicks, such as ragdoll physics. we need new gameplay elements, dammit!

If done right you can get it the same quality as the newer games you can buy now. 3drealms will be producing this one again (correct me if im wrong). So I don't think we will get a half assed game that should be a mod instead of a stand alone.

I'm very interested but not so excited. I have to see it to want it. As long as the story is great and the graphics are better than the original and I'll get it.

Actually I'm more interested in the story than the game itself images/icons/smile.gif , mostly of the games I played were great almost in everything but I never finished em because of the uninteresting story.

Hey, Remedy did it right the first time. They're not going to make some cheesy love story out of Max; they'll keep it feeling like the first one...right, Skaven (crosses fingers)?

MP1 was the best action game ever (my opinion) so, i supose MP2 will be better and maybie will win a "GOTY" award or somethink like that! eheh
About the storyboard, i think wth some originality many sequels can be taken from the MP1 story... Anyone here believes that Mona realy died in that elevator? I dont think so!
What about Alfred Woden? Probably the final boss in MP2, btw, i think that one of the weekest points in MP1 is the non existence of a real chalenging boss, c'mon, all that killing in the game, and in the end.. u kill 3 guys and the choper is to easy to take down... I hope remedy would come wth a more chalenging final boss!
Anyway, enough talking... Max Payne 2 will roxx for sure and i cant wait to play it! images/icons/rolleyes.gif

A challenging boss? Why? That sounds like a super hero videogame....and we know Max is not. images/icons/wink.gif

There were plenty of 'bosses' along the way, but Remedy's focus is, and has been, on story and the immersion of the player into said story. Gognitti was a boss, Lupino was a boss, and if they had been any more difficult I think it would have been less fun; I was all about taking down the character, not about how many bullets it took to do it.
It does help to have certain 'checkpoints' where you have to accomplish something more difficult to move on, though, I agree.
