If those who dont play D2 are wondering why people trade unidentified items, its because it means they are 100% legit. No dupe program ever made could successfully reproduce items when their exact stats were unknown. However people would never dupe certain things.. Like imperfect items, or extremely common ones (like occulus and shaftstops). Before you jump on me for trading my items that would disappear you should know that many, many people were in denial over the whole thing (for whatever reasons) and even with all the warnings they still wanted the stuff. Some people in the channels were swearing up and down that this was some kind of conspiracy to trick us into getting rid of our hack/dupes and they were so smart for buying and stockpiling it all. Well i went and looked at my characters and I never lost a thing (yay!!). Sometime tomorrow i'll probably try playing for a bit to see how well they perform.

Two things I've found odd so far is:

1) My characters aren't receiving the benefits listed for set items as listed on the arreat summit. I guess you need the 1.10 equipment to get the 1.10 benefits?

2) As I was looking at my paladin I kept getting messages about sojs sold to vendors... it started at 74, jumped to 96 and ended at 106 sojs (http://home.thezone.net/~kirk/soj.jpg)

Items. Some of the best elite uniques can only be found in ladder games. Also, only on the ladder can unique base items be upgraded to elite.

And another important thing: it's a fresh economy, without duped items. Heck, I bet nobody has even found a godly unique like Windforce yet.

Some bugs did make it through. I somehow suspect they were left on purpose, because they arent major ones but yet they help since Hell is now hard as.. well.. Hell.

After assessing my assets I went out and got back a bunch of Viper Whorls, Imp Brows, Bstrings and an 08 Windforce.

At the moment im looking for a good armor, I'll probably end up with 09 Valor but would rather find something better. If anyone has something like this let me know.

Im still messing around in the ladder. I got to Act 3 and then quit because its going to require alot of time to finish everything (time I dont have at the moment). If anyone here is running the ladder, remember RUNEWORDS! (http://www.diabloii.net/items/runes/index.shtml)

Take a 3 socket longsword and make "Malice" with it (Ith-El-Eth) and it should last you for a good while.. Same goes for "Steel" (Tir-El) and "Strength" (Amn-Tir).

After you beat normal, focus on making more and more powerful variations of "Kings Grace" (Amn-Ral-Thul) and "Honor" (Amn-El-Ith-Tir-Sol).

If you get the chance, try and trade for a non-magical 5 socket Colossus Blade (for Honor) or a non-magical 3 socket Mythical Sword (for Kings Grace). While they arent the most powerful Runewords.. you can make them fairly easy, and a Sword/Shield barb with an Honor CB and a "Rhyme" (Shael-Eth) or "Ancients Pledge" (Ral-Ort-Tal) should have no problem blasting through nightmare, and even a small portion of hell.

If you eventually get to hell and find yourself dying alot dont feel bad, with the new "enhancements" even I get my ass kicked http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/smirk.gif

I've tinkered a bit with 1.10 in single player, and I must say, I rather like it. The new skill synergies are a terrific addition and reduce or eliminate the "usless skill" syndrome. Item drops also seem to have been tweaked, raising the chance of finding good items. For instance, in the first 20 minutes of play, my Necromancer found a rare wand with some very nice attributes for a low level character!

I'll have to check out the realms one of these days. I've never played much D2 multiplayer except for the occasional open Battle.net session, but this new patch has certainly peaked my interest in closed realm play.

Here in Québec, both Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction are still sold separately, but they're like a unique Eye of Elich amulet. Freggin rare. So if you see 'em, jump on them. They're now mostly sold together, along with Diablo 1 and its expansion pack.

Okay, my druid is level 27 or so, and he's in the beginning of Act 5. Now, I'm spending my time going through Act 4 gaining XP while helping others beat D. I also scored Frostburn and Sigon's gloves from one of these runs (what are the odds that unique AND set gauntlets drop from Diablo at once?).

Frankly, my guy isn't strong enough to make a dent in the Bloody Foothills yet, so presumably my brother and I will do boss runs to garner items and XP. In the non-ladder days, even when I was equipped with all unique items, I still had tended to wait until I got to level 30 before taking on Diablo in normal difficulty. Therefore, I know slogging through Act 5 will be a pain in the butt unless I get to level 30 and/or get better items.

Sorry, you cannot use "classical" Diablo 2 to play games with people using the expansion pack. The expansion pack is fairly cheap now if you want to pick it up though.

As far as I know there are no plans for Diablo 3 at the moment. If I recall correctly the people behind Diablo 1 and 2 don't even work at blizzard anymore.

Also, I primarily had a Necromancer, until they nerfed him with a patch. Later had a Barbarian until they nerfed his ass with Whirlwind. that was the only move I used. Erich and max schaeffer, along with a few others, left blizzard north, who had made the diablo games. They formed flagship studios. My boss is their cousin. I can't talk about what he's seen of what they're making, but I can say flagship studios is nowhere close to having a finished product. I'm fairly certain they only have an engine right now that is in beta, which their team has collectively created to see how they work together.

Could someone tell me why I can't add more skills to my Sorceress? Some skills require level 24. I'm at level 26 and I can't add the new ones. (Yes, the previous skill requirements have at least 1 point).

Hell ya, got my barb to level 15 and through act I in record time (for me). Still no real badass gear, but good enough rares to get me through it. Seems like a lot more rejuv drops than I remember...hit up an insane number of exp. shrines as well.

Once The Purge is over, I'm getting back with the rest of you guys on Bnet. I've allowed my sexy Bowazon to die and it pissed me. My barb's stash is filled up to the brim with gear for her and I can't find anyone to mule for me.

My new SP game with my Sorceress leaves me somewhat dissatisfied. I read that you should specialize in one element and not spread out. Since I could never make up my mind on which to pick, I kept adding more points to warmth until the end of Act 2. It's probably the only skill on which points are never wasted.

But eventually, to kill Duriel, I had to put skills into fire. So I kinda went that way (level 7 firewall now -- 400 dmg) but that was barely enough to dispatch Mephisto. And now that I'm in Hell, I'm predictably getting raped because most enemies are naturally resistant to fire. I constantly switch between Nova/Firewall to keep enemies at bay while my Merc freezes them. But I'll run into a wall soon. So I'm kinda boned.

I'm thinking about starting a new Sorceress over, in MP. But this time, I'll stick to one tree. So, which is it: cold or lightning? I kinda like lightning. It gets the job done, but it's slow.

Unlike 1.09, its a good idea for a sorc to have TWO main sorc skills instead of one. Personally I would suggest Cold (Orb) and Lightning (T-Storm).

This is a bug, please report it to the Battle.net forums as soon as possible (if you visit the "arreat summit" [the D2Exp site] it shows you what bugs they fix on a semi-regular basis.) Im pondering on what defensive spells to up incase my minions suddenly fall in battle and im left all alone with no corpses to use. Should I work up to a spectre? get poison nova? should i just wait and find a wand/totem that gives me these abilites or what?

Should I work up to a spectre? get poison nova? should i just wait and find a wand/totem that gives me these abilites or what?



For a Summoning Necro your best bet is to (of course) max out Mage and Revive, as far as golems go I would start out with a point in Clay (just to distract your enemies) and then move your way up to Fire. One of the best (and often overlooked) offensive Necro skills is Corpse Explosion. Once your Skeletons/Mages/Golems have the enemies in a group just start blasting away with Corpse Explosion (it drops them like flies). The only downfall is that you no longer have a corpse to revive monsters.

Other then that, unless you want to go Bone Spear (they semi un-nerfed it in 1.10, but you have to put a lot of points into a lot of skills), I highly suggest Poison Nova and Spectre. If at all possible try to save a few skill points (if you can) for when you get to lvl 30 and can access them.

I recently decided to put my current Necro (lvl 18 I believe) on hold while I work with my druid, and have almost the entire Sanders and Infernal Tools [necro sets] (im just missing the cap for both) so if you want them you're welcome to them.

The only other advice I can give you is look for a good quality 2 socket (non magical) armor and stick in a Tal and an Eth rune (in that order: TalEth) it will create the "Stealth" runeword, and give you some decent bonuses for a low-level character.

Anyway I should be on Bnet for most of the night, whisper me if you want something. Also, I still have Cathans armor for you.. If you gave up on the cathans set, would you mind giving me the ring? It will help a lot with my Paladan and Druid being melee characters. See you on there!

I recently decided to put my current Necro (lvl 18 I believe) on hold while I work with my druid, and have almost the entire Sanders and Infernal Tools [necro sets] (im just missing the cap for both) so if you want them you're welcome to them.

The only other advice I can give you is look for a good quality 2 socket (non magical) armor and stick in a Tal and an Eth rune (in that order: TalEth) it will create the "Stealth" runeword, and give you some decent bonuses for a low-level character.

Anyway I should be on Bnet for most of the night, whisper me if you want something. Also, I still have Cathans armor for you.. If you gave up on the cathans set, would you mind giving me the ring? It will help a lot with my Paladan and Druid being melee characters. See you on there!



Im taking a different route with my summoner. maxing melee and mages backed with a golem. Now i'm decidding to get P-Nova or Specters. I'll decide on that when the time comes. Meanwhile i'll get my army built and gather good gear for the run. I already had Stealth Armor in mind, actually. I made some for a former sorc character of mine and it was hard to let it go. Realllly came in handy.

Anyway, I lost all my characters (which is like the...well too many times to count). That's cool though. Playing with twinked characters gets boring to me.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to start an ultimate party from the 3dr boards. One of every character type, and building those characters to make a supreme team (since there are a ton of skills that aid other party members). I'd like to use only equipment that is found in "party games" without muling a bunch of shit. No reason to hoard items if even helps to build a baddass team.

Just an idea. I've never done this, and it sounds fun to me, even though I HARDLY EVER play with anyone on bnet.

Well how about we just make a Diablo II 3DRUBB "Clan"? I mean I have helped just about everyone (from here) that I have played with.

We could all just schedule games where we would play together on the same realm (I suggest USEast Ladder.. read old battleforums posts and out why). Then, instead of hoarding an item you find we would schedule "Trade Meets" where we would meet up and trade with eachother (or just giving stuff away).

Its almost identical to your idea however I think you should be able to have as many characters as you want (and you could always have a UBB bud transfer with you) because personally.. Right now I have a

So why don't those interested just set up times (we can just use this thread, giving a week or so's notice of course) where we can hook up, quest and "trade meet" and share our riches with eachother (although I already gave most of my free stuff to Simon http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

Then eventually once things get rolling those who want can make PVP* and PVM* matches and we can score ourselves on a website (with a forum). Heh, we would be one of the first new Diablo II : LoD "Clans"

Oh yeah, even this is off topic I thought I would add it in. People on Bnet use phrases that some people don't understand. Heres a little "Dictionary" I made (if I missed some, feel free to add them in)

*Diablo II Termanology*

Fighting

"PVP" = Player vs. Player

"PVM" = Player vs. Monster

Items
"SOJ" = Stone of Jordan. The rarest ring in Diablo II. Even though it is no longer used as the D2 "currency", it is still a very good Sorceress ring.

"WF" = Windforce. Its the best Amazon bow in the game.

".08, .09. 1.10" = Version numbers. Which means when Blizzard released a new patch, the attributes change (the older ones are usually better) Although 1.10 didn't change too much.

"Shaft" = Shaftstop. Its a unique mesh armor that's fairly common, but due to its added health, low requirements, and 30% damage reduce its fairly popular.

"SS" = Stormshield. Most arguably the best shield in the game (rarely its also used to describe the "Shaftstop")

"Dupe" in version 1.08 (and before) there was a bug in the game that allowed to let players recreate as many items as they wanted. They are "fake" copied items. These became really common and worthless in 1.09 however since the 1.10 patch pretty much eliminated the duping problem (there are of course rumors that they are new ones out) they are worth quite a lot.

Others are of course: "psn" = Poison

"sc" = Small Charm

"GC" = Grand Charm

"chippie" = chipped Gem

"//" = Used to separate game names and their passwords (i.e. game//pass)

"noob" = I'm sure you can figure that one out

"tp" = Teleport (usually they want you to send them a teleport to where you are)

"pp/pplz" = 'Party Please' - they want to join your party

"ng" = 'New Game' - they want someone to start a new game (mostly said during Baal runs or Cow Games)

"bo" = 'Battle Orders' - A spell a Barbarian has that increases the life and mana of everyone in their party

[Edit]: Also you must remember that there are a lot of *******s on Bnet (any realm, any game). They will try to screw you over at a moments notice.. if they try to pursuade you into "duping" with them, or trying to get you to do some kind of "trust test", or anything that even sounds remotely weird/fishy.. then leave the game immediately. There are ways they trick you and steal there items.

Also never, ever, for the love of god download anything some stranger sends you on the internet (from Bnet that is) or download any "map hacks" or "dupe programs". 99.9992% of the time its a trojan or keylogger that steals your Diablo II password (and any other password you have stored on your PC).

Ah, don't worry my good friend.. I just reinstalled Diablo II last night after a lengthy hiatus. While the graphics are starting to show their age, the gameplay is still unbelievably fun and addicting! It's easily one of my all-time favorite games. The icing on the cake is that I got it working in Linux with full Battle.net support using the Wine (http://www.wine.org) emulator and it works as good as it does in Windows with the exception that I can't play using Direct3D.

Oh, and I would love to join you guys but my time is very limited and I doubt I would be able to meet at the scheduled times.

And a final word of warning on eBay purchases: you're taking a chance buying a game with a CD-key from an eBay seller as you have no way of knowing that the CD-key hasn't been compromised. For instance, he may have given it away to his friends, or it may have been stolen, or perhaps his account was permanently banned for cheating and he's just trying to unload the disc on some sucker. Your best bet would be to hunt for an unopened boxed copy, just to be on the safe side.

Ah.... i used to play D2 online.... but i spent too much time on it and eventually tired myself of the game. I only play offline now with */players 8* enabled.

Still a classic game.... i haven't seen a single clone game surpass it...

I still play. My account name is NiteHackr. I have at least one of each character, but my favorite is my level 88 Druid. I defeated Baal in hell by myself, without dieing (while fighting Baal that is). I will help if you need it. I've been working on redoing my barbarian and pally lately as they were the first characters I made when I started this game and I have skills all over the place on them.

I started a ladder character (PvP Paladin) and things are going good. I have a few friends who owe me some stuff that I lent to them so I should have my über-items back whenever I want them (like my Anna charm >:D )

Anyway, are you guys going to be playing on the ladder, or just regular D2:LOD? Because I have accounts for both.

I play with the newest patch on the USEast ladder, where people can't hack (or at least it's the hardest server to hack, most people don't even bother trying).

Apparently they added a whole new chain of events (like a quest) where you get "keys of evil" and misc Baal and Diablo appendages. Eventually your reward is a charm that gives you tons of skills and stuff.

Reset and the lowest level of anyone I've seen is 89. People with way to much time or haxors.

Yeah, LOL... the problem is, getting that charm. Once you get all those things assembled you open up a portal in Act 5 that leads to an alternate Tristam, one that has ALL THE BOSSES in it! I played it for a while (and died alot) with my level 88 Druid. I had defeated Baal in Hell with this Druid by myself without dieing and I couldn't survive one second in this nightmare. There was Baal, Diablo, I don't know how many Pit Lords that were immune to everything but physical (the Pit Lords that is). When you can through the portal they ALL fired at you at once. You can't create your own portals in there either. It's insane. We played it all day and barely killed anyone off. Only a large group of Pally's in their 90's had a chance.

There's also a new boss called Lillith. She looks like Andy (the boss at the end of Act 1).

I usually play on Ladder. I am starting over and am on there as "NiteHackr". My favorite character is the Druid. But I am working on a Pally (hammerdin), Wind Druid etc... it's kind of nice to start over fresh.

Diablo II is much better than Diablo when it comes to cheating. There is alot of cheating in open, but if you play on the Ladder, you simply won't see it. That's the main reason why people play Ladder. The most you'll see is people using Maphack and that is only to show you the levels, which is sort of cheating, but when you've done the same levels over and over and over again, I don't see it as much of a cheat to be able to see the entire level. Seeing as how in single player the levels are revealed to you once you explore them and they stay that way.

Anyhow, there is no maphack for v1.11 (yet!) and I don't miss it at all. It will only become needed when people want to do Baal runs. There really is no other way to get up in levels once you complete normal, nightmare and hell. Heck, it takes hundreds of baal runs to go beyond level 90 PER LEVEL... there really should be a better way to gain experience.

I enjoy playing with different "designs", trying different skill combinations.

Oh man that sounds awesome. Is that only accessible in Hell difficulty or all of the difficulties? I've never managed to make a good character that is able to fight even the blood moor monsters in Hell difficulty http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif

Highest I got was lvl 79 barb. Then forgot to play long enough he got deleted.

Not a biggie though. I had just made it to nightmare, was having a ***** of a time getting out of the first act.

It's not too tough but you need to be careful not to scatter your skills all over the place. For example, my favorite is a wind druid.

Here's where I put my skills....

Summoning: 20 in Oak Sage

Elemental: 1 in Arctic Blast... 20 in Cyclone Armor... 20 in Twister... 20 in Tornado and 20 in Hurricane.

Don't put any skills in anything else. This will leave you 9 extra points to do as you please by the way, this is provided you reach level 99. These points are based on you reaching level 90. I would max out hurricane, Tornado and Oak Sage first, then maybe Cyclone and Twister.

You know if you're character is good once you reach Hell level. I have had MANY that reached the 70's and then I deleted them because once in hell they are garbage. In hell there are alot of enemies immune to cold, fire etc... and you have to have a diverse character. The Wind Druid does cold damage with Hurricane, which will get you through normal and nightmare, once in hell where there are more cold immunes (and even in nightmare) you will rely more on tornado as it doesn't do cold damage and there are no resistances to it at all.

I done a sorceress that done cold AND lightening... it was still a challenge in Hell but I had that option. There are even enemies immune to physical damage. A paladin seems to be the best all round character that can kick butt if you do him right.
