Well, we got some screenshots from the game... Cool, it's really cool. People's faces looks promising, anyway, well see...
Max looks kinda old on the screenshots... Maybe he was in the jail too much...
Some people thought that MP 2 will be game which explains what happend before MP 1... But now, with "old" Max, there'll no be such thing...

I'm GLAD because MAIN company involved in MAX PAYNE is RAMEDY... If it's 3DREALMS, we could wait for YEARS ( you know DNF game images/icons/grin.gif )

What do you think about MAX PAYNE 2?

i don't think he went to jail , Wodden sayd he would take care of it .......
i can't harly wait to see what Sam Lake cooked up for the story
but i have one recomandations :
- the game shouldent be soo linear
-the game sould be longer , no focused on kill everything that moves , but more dramatic ..... with level where you have to use your brain in stead of your hand to kill everything .....
- it should be more 'today' using fowl language ..... you know the F word ...... ot would be more real , but no excessive , like in KingPin .....
- it should keep the same dark humour that was used in the original MP

linearity works for Max Payne

last thing you want to do when gunnin down drug dealers and such is to go to the grocery store and buy some milk. Or visit a titty bar for some kicks. Linearity works in this type of game.

Fowl language? As far as I know, "cock-a-doodle-doo" is a C-word, not an F-word.

omar, linearity is all fair and well but you want to have total freedom and choice of how to approach a scene or enemy or a gang and not just resort to just one and only way.

concerning woden:
don't forget that max found candy dawn's (i think that was the name) video of woden in an office of this inner circle building ("just in case"). i think he'll use it to make woden take care of him.

i wouldn't mind if the gameplay stays the same. i've played mp three times, and it didnt' get boring at all. the great level design together with the awesome screenplay created an atmosphere ... just perfect. and now havoc ... images/icons/smile.gif

With physics now we can bowl over enemies in shoot dodge mode instead of going through them.

I hope we can hug a wall and shoot around corners, that always looks very cinematic and cool.

By the way, what exactly is the point of this thread?

I'm sticking with my "Max's past" storyline. Think about it, there so many ways you could take the story of how he met his wife. And with him working Vice they could throw a lot of varied missions are way like bank robberies, hostage situations and shit. Well, I'm probably wrong, but who's to say there won't be a Max Payne 3? images/icons/wink.gif

I just hope they have better character animations this time. The original looked great, but the animations made the bots look retarded at times.

Or it might not have been the animations themselves but the lack of enough movement specific animations which made sudden turns and stuff for bots look very awkward.

FullMetalJacket
06-27-2003, 08:49 AM
As far as I know, every animation in the first game was done by hand. I have no idea if there's any motion capture this time. Max's running around and the way his jacket flapped looked awesome. The only animations that bugged me were the death animations, but MP2 will have highly sophisticated ragdoll physics thanks to Havok2.0 !! images/icons/grin.gif

They simply DO they work, and "we" will get news about Max Payne 2, screenshots and everything else. That's fair, I think...
About DNF: Do you really think that you are "cool" for simply "when it's done" thing.

For exemple, there's VALVE. They TOLD and INFORMED us some monhts before HL2's release. HL 2 was "dead" project and nobody expected anything... Then, ONE DAY, Valve SHOWN their project and everyone's amazed. Why 3DR didint do such thing? As you know, HL 2 was made for few years, and NOW we are all happy about it, coz we simply KNOW that project is almost DONE. That is trick about games that "must" be made for few years...

What about you? We didint get "anything" since 2001. NOTHING. After swithing engine to UNREAL thing, you could simply keep your mouth closed. And then, when game's release is near, you could simply BLOW "us" with news, profiles, characters, weapons... Point of this is NONE. There is no POINT about DNF cause, we dont know anything...

What about this - everyone "guess" some thing about DNF... Will it have that kind of guns, levels, but AS I SAID, nobody knows anything about it... What's the satisfaction in THIS?!

I'm tired of this. I talk too much maybe, but I like to tell what I think, ESPECIALLY when I know that my post will be "destroyed, deleted, that kind of thing... "

Once again: MAX PAYNE 2 is DIFFERENT than DNF. Developer is RAMEDY. They TOLD US the YEAR of release about MAX PAYNE, in MAX PAYNE 2 too.

My warning and my opinion: DO NOT INVOLVE "RAMEDY" in WHEN IT'S DONE THING! You told that for DNF game. DONT do it with game which is not yours...

some news from the german pc games:

according to Petri Jarvilehto, the story is goinig to be told more frequently with ingame cutscenes. the sketches are only going to be used between the levels. (there's a new screenshot of one sketch in the mag showing max that's quite similar to the old max ... looks like a hybrid of max payne and pierce brosnan. i like it. this leather jacket fits perfectly ...)

furthermore, the player is obviously going to be able to swith into firstperson while using some weapons, as known from GTA.
