Has anyone here played Giants before?
The nymph (do not remember real name =) has a power to slowdown a particular area...
Couldnt that technology be implemented in MP (or MP2 even)?
Just curious =]

I think MP would've sucked ass if they incorporated such lame features as the ability to slow down time... images/icons/rolleyes.gif

Ouch, that hurt ...
anyway, it was just a thought , no need to bash it.
Itīs just that people say 'Bullet Time' wouldnīt be possible in Multiplayer, so i though about the game 'Giants' and about this feature that was available there.

Yeah, but often when ppl say "MP" in here they refer to "Max Payne" and not "Multiplayer".
Confusing it is, ah yeees! images/icons/grin.gif

=P<hr></blockquote>I knew that's what you were getting at. I just didn't want to say it and have this thread turn into yet another "No multiplayer?! WAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!" thread.
It can't be done, get over it. Besides, it seems to me that the slo-mo in Max Payne is more than just adjusting the values of the animation speed. In the single player game, you'll notice aural and visual changes (like the sound slowing down, or the ability to see bullets).

Iīm well aware of the limitation of MP (now refering to max payne, yeah im a dope =)
rollingbrass, but i wont get over it.
Ive seen it happen in multiplayer, it could work, should it be implemented though, i dont know, that wouldnt be wise. It would be fun, for a couple of minutes but then the MP (now multiplayer, geez why dont i write it ... =) value would be off, because that would be all the fun, aside from shooting eachother in a DM style akimbo action movie etc etc etc...
Anyway, i recommend you guys take a look at 'Giants' if you can, and play the Reaper.
She has a nice tornado and the ability to slow down time in a specific area.
Now, my main question was, CAN it be done? Not should it be implemented in MP (yes, maxpayne =)
BLAH =P
PS: yeah, i got used to say MP for multiplayer, that what happens when i dont frequent the 'MP FORUM' , so sue me =P

Multiplayer would require a major code overhaul, it's not a simple feat. Bullet time is not really the issue here. If the game has multiplayer, the engine has to be built from the beginning with network code in mind. Adding it afterwards would be like rebuilding the foundations of a skyscraper without toppling it. Quite the same reason why they won't put a save game feature in Giants.
It would be hardly worth the trouble: as you said, it would be fun for a couple of minutes, and that's it. Chinese firecracker makers may be willing to spend several days working on fun that lasts for 2 seconds, but we're not. Sorry. images/icons/smile.gif
Remember Deus Ex? The team almost killed themselves with work to get the multiplayer done (despite the fact Unreal engine actually has network / multiplayer code), and then maybe some 50 people played it simultaneously at the peak times.
