i was wondering about whether a faq will be made in regards to the soon to be released game mp2. im not sure if its too early to even think of having a faq made at this point but considering the screenshots were released for others to view at and previews the games magazines are doing on the game to report on i figured there might be stuff ppl will be enquiring about the game and ask several questions over and over so i decided im gonna make a faq right here right now just so that anyone has a question that mightve been answered already or that a similar topic about why sam lake aint gonna reprise as the payne himself will be then adressed to this faq. so im gonna use the questions in the faq from the max payne 1 faq for mp2 plus i have sum questions of my own that other ppl want to know also. so here i go.

When is the mp2 going to be released?
in the fall this yr.

Why did it take so damn long?
cos remedy wants it to be the best game you ever played. and it will be too. images/icons/smile.gif

Does Max Payne 2 require a 3D accelerator?
it will require a good graphics card that can take advantage to make the graphics awesum.

What about consoles?
maybe. remedy will have to answer that.

Is there going to be a Linux version of the game?
no idea.

Is there going to be a Mac version of the game?
dunno

Does Max Payne 2 take full advantage of Athlon processors?
it might.

Can I customize Max Payne 2, what about Total Conversions etc.?
remedy again will have to answer that.

Is the storyline linear or dynamic?
remedy again.

Does Max Payne 2 have a multiplayer mode?
i bet not.

What about environment interactivity? Real world environment requires interactivity, right?
ohh yehh its gonna interact big time. shoot up, use up, pick up, probably.

I've read articles on Max that mention Remedy, 3DRealms, The Gathering of Developers, Rockstar Games, and even Neo and Rockstar Canada. Who's doing what?
remedy's developing it, 3dr's helping them out with gameplay issues and tips to make it better, no idea if gathering, rockstar, and those others are doing anything on mp2 soo we'll see what happens.

What are the system requirements?
remedy will announce that SOON.

ive seen the pics in mp2 of a guy i hear about that has replaced the original who starred in mp1 and i want to know why sam lake isnt appearing in the sequel and why did you change from him to this guy? whats the story there?
here is the reason taken from maxpayneheadquarters.com by scott miller;
"Here's the deal with Max's new look...

The original game used Remedy developers, family and friends for faces. A lot of the reviews for the game pointed this out even, as it was rather obvious in some cases that pro actors were not being used.

So, this time around, professional actors are being used all around, and they're all being hired from the New York City area (makes sense, right, with the game being set there). Yes, we all like Sam Lake better as Max, but he's also the game's primary script writer (and the script is HUGE!), and he doesn't have time to fly to New York to take part in the photo sessions.

The game will be better, in part, because Remedy's developers are not being distracted by photo shoots, and they can focus on their real jobs: making the game.

So, that's the short story. I wish we could have stuck with Sam as Max, too, but this change had to be made, and having played numerous builds of the game already, I am already used to Max's new look and I don't even think twice about it anymore.

A lot of people complained about Zelda's new sell shaded look, too, but when they played the game it became much less important of a point. It only takes a little time to get used to.

But, the real bottom-line is that it was just not possible for the Remedy developers to make the game and also reprise their old roles again (or have to fly to NY city several times for photo shoots).

The good news is that Max's voice will be the same. :-) "

is james mcaffery returning to the sequel as max payne 2?
yes see above.

will the engine from mp1 be still used for mp2?
any modifications to it?
yes remedy has done plenty to enhance the engine and improve on its strengths and minimise its weaknesses on its own engine itself.

will there be a demo released as well as a movie trailer to show the game to be soon released?
once again have no idea, remedy will you answer these as soon as you have the time from your busy schedule?

will mp2 use dx9 features?
it might.

well everyone thats all the questions here. anyone here have other questions that hasnt been answered will ask here. all i will do is answer as honestly as i can but its all up to remedy or 3dr who can address them as well. but any questions at all i wont mind answering, anything at all.

"When is the mp2 going to be released?"
I'd go with November myself, and that's more like early winter than fall.

"What about consoles?"
PS2 & XBox

"Is there going to be a Linux/Mac version of the game?"
No.

"Is the storyline linear or dynamic?"
Linear.

"will mp2 use dx9 features?"
Doubt it.

Just my 15 dollars. Or two cents, whichever you prefer.

Winter = December-February as far as I'm concerned.

About the topic at hand, what is the use of a FAQ is you only answer everything with maybes images/icons/smile.gif

That faq is just the MP1 faq.

the one over at DeepSix is better, and it is not just copied and pasted from the MP1 faq.

EDIT: see the link in Aavenr's post

I almost wonder why bother with FAQ's? People ignore them, claim they're outdated and just post the same quesitons again claiming their question is newer than than the FAQ, so what's the point in reading it? images/icons/rolleyes.gif

I think FAQs are valid as long as the webmaster has it on the company's web site. People ought to know that so they would stop posting repetative threads.

Hey I don't know. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">What's the deal with playing a game where you need to aim and shoot on a console? It's damn near impossible to aim accurately without a mouse and a keyboard.

EDIT: And oh, as that silly norwegianer biXen might add, mods and 1600*1200@32bit & 4xAA & 16xAF.
