View Full Version : Locations you want to see in Max Payne 3

Hi there!
I must confess that I think Max Payne had somewhat more interesting locations than Max Payne 2 had.
MP2 was more about houses, rooms, stairs and corridors. Even when Mona's Playground was much different it was basically also a room-corridor concept.
I can't remember such blasting locations like they were in MP1: The underground station, the NY docks, the roof of the Ragnarock and last but not least: The skyscraper as last level, where you one time use an elevator on the outside and get attacked by an helicopter.
I had the feeling that the levels in MP2 where simpler in its structure. They were much more interesting in MP1!
I also cannot remember that levels where so much receycled in MP1 than in MP2. Even the Ragnarock-Level was receycled for MP2 and there it appeared two times. Mona's Playground (Funhouse?) was repeated three times!
What locations I would like to see in MP3:
- a somewhat crowded street in which Payne has to hunt down enemies but take care about civilians running around (moving cars?)
- a train station
- and/or a hunt inside a moving train
- (or) an airport (plus inside a parking plane?)
- a mine
- a supermarket (harvok engine attack http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
- a movie theatre (with a running show... what the heck: A porno movie, man! ;-)
... don't know, what other interesting locations could there be?

I don't like ur first idea, the civilians-thingie. A Supermarket? That's so weird that it might actually work. Hey, the funhouse was weird too! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

more railway stations http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I love The Tube, and thought Roscoe street was excellent. Maybe Max could come over to London?

you mean DN3D, right? Or is Hollywood Halocaust the name of a game that Duke 3D ripped off?

I just played DN3D last night which is why I was asking. I was wondering if that was the title and I just missed it, because it IS about Hollywood and it IS about a Halocaust, so it makes sense...

Love that game (D3D), nobody's beat me in multiplayer in that yet, and have had some amazingly fun moments in that game. And it was the only multiplayer fps game where you could own without a mouse http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Great level design there too, and actually that's where I made my first maps, but as many others now I didn't care much about look then, they were damn fun to play though http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
About locations in Max, it will still be a gamble for me if I'll be interested in MP3 if it comes on the charts anytime soon, much because I'm not sure if they'll push it enough further for it to be interesting to me, but if it does I just want to see locations that fit the story and is fun to have shootouts in. It's not like you can have some Kreml missions, it's New York afterall.

I definitely wanna see a more "outdoorish" environment. It doesn't have to be outdoors per se, but something like a Supermarket or a mall would be great. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Statue of Liberty would be neat.
I want lots of room to kill enemies and perhaps an innocent bystander or two. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I think it would be fun to have a shootout at a subway and then you chase or get chased into a subway train and have to run through the car shooting. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ohhh! Central Park!. When I was a young lad, my grandpa, my cousin, and I all went up to New York to visit my Uncle.
We went riding in a Horse Carriage around Central Park. My Uncle filmed the whole thing and when we wer paying the driver, the camera caught the horse peeing all over the street. HAHAHA! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif \o/

Airport? Supermarket? What's the last time you were depressed and forlornly around a brighly lit pile of oranges or a bussling airport? Besides that, if people are going to be there it has to be daytime, and it's NEVER daytime in Max Payne.
With that said: another funhouse! I don't care it it will seem like the same thing, that was a great level.

In case youve never been in the Statue of Liberty let me tell you the layout. You walk up the center in a tight spiral staircase that takes a while to climb. At the top you get to look out the little windows in her crown and then back down a tight spiral staircase, and all the time the inside of the statue is visible.

I think having a level in a church is a nice idea. Something with Romanesque architecture, too. I could see some nice cinema of a long nave, stained glass windows in a clerestory, Max sauntering toward some foe. . .
. . . Way sweet. *nodding*
