View Full Version : Debris?

Has anyone else noticed the fact that in those new magazine scan pictures of MP2 there is no debris flying through the air like in the first MP even Max's bullets clearly hit wall in one of the pictuers? Also, I think the muzzle flashes look a bit low res or blurry... much worse looking than in the first Max Payne.

I hope I'm wrong or that these pictures are from an early version. I think the huge amounts of debris flying all aroung was one of the coolest seperate features of MP.

Also Remedy, have you improved your debris (if it even exists anymore) routines / graphics anyway? 3d pieces, animated billboards, physics, particles that collide...

Thanks!

I doubt they would have removed this.

These are scans, so we will have to wait for official screens for any proof of what is in or out.

why would they delete the coolest features the engine already supported in versoin 1.0? max payne 2 is using an upgraded version of the Max Payne 1 engine (Max-FX) so the least you can expect is mp1 quality debris. however im quite sure they have upgraded this part along with better and higher-res muzzle flashes. besides, as Skaven explained in this thread (http://forums.3drealms.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=004137), screenshots of explosions and muzzle flashs will never look as good as they look ingame, fully animated.

They've got a physics engine now, how can it possibly get worse? + it's Remedy, the nr 1 developer house in tha world... hehe

This is one of the reasons we don't release screenshots for DNF. Folks assume too much based on a screenshot, and then it clouds your judgement.

You have to have a little more faith than that. Max 1 was cool. Max 2 will also be cool. That's about all you REALLY need to know for now. images/icons/smile.gif

That is how it always is joe.

When the game 's first screens come out, people gnaw and finaggle(spelling?) their way through each shot. It is a part of the release process.

If you released a DNF shot...... Well, there is really only one way to find out.

If you meant finagle (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=finagle), you're not making much sense.

But if you mean that people are finicky (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=finicky) about the screens, you're starting to make some sense.

EDIT: Typo in first URL.

Anyway, I'm not one to read to much into the MP2 screenshots...except that damn static tie, why can't it be animated! images/icons/frown.gif images/icons/wink.gif
