This page was posted in the DNF forum and it looks like the oldest build of the game I've seen.

probably the same type of contrast one would expect with the old and unseen pics of DNF

Max payne was nothing what they claim in that story. Driving vehicles?? Pfff. Id rather play the old max were it showed the guy on the dirt bike and the guy smoking in the ally. It looked like it had a really gritty touch. Max payne is just a super detailed version of Robotron.

He also had a taser, and had laser sights on some of the pistols. I remember talking about this in the forum way back. One of the moderators, probably skaven, was saying that it would not make it. Oh and painskins were in the early batch too.

The best part is when it says "A 3D Accelerator will be required for this one".

^^^
Because in 1997, there were manny games that didn't require 3D accelleration.

so what? max payne 1 in 2001 still required 3d acceleration.

wtf is wrong with u? in 1997 nearly no game required 3d acceleration, which is unthinkable today.... that is the funny part.

And when graphics cards came out it was like:

A HUGE 4MB of ram to power all the newest games!!!!!

This would be all over the box and stuff. No DDR memory and very little ram. Think TNT and stuff.

Ah the good ol days. Screw TNT, those were the days of 3DFX...damn them and their Voodoo 3s.

I fell in love with Max Payne after that spread and he hasn't let me down yet. :-D

I still have an old monitor with a "Powered by 3D Blaster" hologram sticker on it. Back then Creative's 3D Blasters had a Verité V1000 chip. God that card was ass.

And I was the first person I knew with a 3D accelerator card!

So that first article of Max Payne lied to us? Or did the creators just change it a whole lot? Thats weird... I wish you could drive in Max Payne. But we have GTA3 and Vice City for that. If you wanna take a ride in some stolen wheels just play those games. images/icons/smile.gif

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Actually I think that is the art that they painted. Ya know, before they photoshopped actual photos of the cast. They were painted by hand I think. That is, I think, one of the painted shots. There are a few pics like that also, where the art looks a little different.

It looks pretty awesome. I WANT (need?) that poster...Can you imagine what they could make by selling hand-painted MP art?

Cyberfish, the last picture is in the instruction manuel on the back cover advertising a Max Payne stratedgy guide. I don't think it was in the game either. images/icons/smile.gif
