Hey
Im having difficulty expotring my work from Milk Shape 1.7 to Max Ed2. I created a skybox, saved it accordingly as a .kf2 file, but Maxed can't open it or insert it as an item. So what do i do now. I notice that some people have skyboxes in there levels, like plaza raid and battle tactics. Thank you in advance for any help.

Max Payne Skybox Tutorial (http://maxined.maxpaynesource.com/tutorials_satan_skyboxes.html)
Post again if that doesn't help.

hey
Thanks for the help, I was actually looking at the tutorial already, until i realized that I was using Max 6 which didn't have the plugins for kfs textures. But now i can't even get Max 5, I don't have an authorization code.
But thanks anyway

mm sorry but you don't use skyboxes that way...
if you want similiar skyboxes as battletactics or plazaraid. (which are both default skuboxes) inside the level add a new category called skybox... add one texture there (i would use the green texture labelled skybox) then place that texture on the faces you would like the skybox to show through...
in the level.txt you can then define which skybox is to be used for the level...

Okay
So when you say "then place the texture on the faces you would like the skybox to show through" do you mean I would texture the windows. Because I want the player to see the skybox through the windows??
Also second problem. I was looking through the old max ed tutorials, and there pretty helpful. Except the one with the boolean operations. It shows you how to make a sphere out of simple shapes, but it says to put your keyboard tilt to 15 degrees under the preferences. But there is nothing for key tilt there. Check out the picture.
Last thing...Skybox doesn't come up on anywhere in the category listing, when you go to add.

use shit + +/- to change the angle tilt value
and yes you should texture windows and such with the skybox texture...
and when you choose add category there should be a skybox somewhere in the list if not you must have allready added it...

GREAT!
Thanks for you help, i managed to find the skybox, it just wasn't listed in the one file i was working on...strange. Once question though, when I haded the skybox texture (the dummy texture) to some of my windows it affected all of them. So im wondering if i still want the skybox to appear outside my windows, but i still want the glass texture on the windows so when some one shots it leaves a decal mark, how would i go about doing it?? I thought if i just added the category skybox, it would automatically load it but it doesn't, only after i add it to one or more surfaces.
Thanks

Texture the glasses with a window texture in the category bulletproof_glass or something. Then have a small room outside the windows with skybox textures on the walls, would probably look better, and is what I did. You could also have an invisible light source outside.
