If the story and theme are as dark than in Max Payne, chances are likely that the rating will be an M again. MP wasn't a very violent game (there were hardly blood in it unless you played with Maddieman's Katana mod images/icons/wink.gif ) but some of the themes were very explicit for some possible players, especially the intro.

Or the oral sex scene (Rico Muerte right before Max caps 'im).

Well, I was 16 when I played the first game, and I don't think it's warped me too much.

Then again, I was playing DOOM by age six. images/icons/grin.gif

Thank you for knowledge. Do you know what's the age limit by BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) or ELSPA (European Leisure Software Publishers Association)? MP 1's age limit was 15 by BBFC at any rate in Europe.

Another question, does anybody know when the movie of Max Payne appears?

The first one was rated 15 in Britain, which was fairly accurate imo, except for a few a scenes perhaps. If it was rated 18, then I think I'd expect it to be a little more disturbing. Not really in blood content, or gore; but perhaps the themes will be darker.

I don't think Gta3 had the same impact as its predecessors, violence wise. Sure the cartoon gore and blood was still present; but the shock value wasn't there anymore. Maybe it was the presence of Hollywood actors and such, but I got the impression that they were trying to clean up their act a bit, and not get branded alongside games like Postal 2.

Regarding Max 2, though; I'm a little curious to find out if the enemies will still have that light-hearted, comic-like dialogue, or if things will be more serious this time around.

Well, the ratings are guide-lines for parents...so if you're under 18 you can buy it, it's not like it's a law images/icons/smile.gif

Yeah, I also liked of Payne 1. It was cool that enemies dressed a pink-colored jacket and talked about everything under the sun.

The another cool thing was the mood. Sometimes it was scary and sometimes exciting. Hopefully Remedy can make a sequel like Payne 1.

In Italy the limit was over 15.

I got the impression that MP2 will be more serious and darker, I'd like it to. But I dunno... we'll see

I liked those random discussions you could listen to. It was great walking around the corner, hearing a terrorist talking about movies or what he named his gun. images/icons/tongue.gif

"In the movies it's always the red or the blue..."

"I'll go for the green"

"NO! not green!!!" images/icons/shocked.gif ....

BOOM!!!

Little things like that really helped in making the game great images/icons/grin.gif

Remedy, will Payne's age limit be 18? There's too much blood and a violence in GTA: Vice City, so hopefully Payne isn't like that.

It will be rated M for Mature just like the original Max Payne, meaning it is only suitable for people who are 17 and above.

I'm sure the rating will be the same for North America as with the first game. It was M-17 here in Canada, I think, and I've been told that the (game) rating higher than that basically applies to porn, etc.

I've been thinking that it would be nice to have subtle, perhaps hidden references to the first game's non-essential content, like Captain Baseball Bat Boy, etc. Max can grin wryly, and we can all be in on the joke.

Yep, AO+ is the next rating. It stands for Adults only, and has never been used to rate a regular game. The only types of games AO+ goes to are things like strip poker or something.
