Now I've seen a lot of posts and hear a lot of replies about MP2 being too short and rushed a little and I've got to agree with them because Violet the hooker is used 3 times!

1. First In Max's apartment building, where In a crowded fire fight I accidently killed her with my dual Ingrams.

2. She reappears at the police station in the intergation line-up...

3. Then you walk down stairs and you see reporting that her boyfriend was attempting to kill her.

WTF!?!

First of all she died at the blazing sights of my Ingrams. But what's most stupid is that she's in a intergation line up and then's reporting a crime. Wouldn't of she also gone to lockup and wouldn't her complaint be less believable after being invovled in a crime?

I know that it would be nightmare if every enemy had there own individual model but why the same NPC 3 times? Would it be that hard to make 1 more character model?

No its not hard, but what is the point? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif Note that these are only three instances of the same model, with the same texturing, on the gameworld (in this case i belive a simply different texture would provide an acceptable change). I got much more of an eyesore having to see the Squeaky Cleaning Company "workers" in terms of repetition. Its a compromise most of us are willing to accept. This happens in plenty o'other games. Specially in RPGs. In the end it doesn't matter if they all *look* unique, they have to *act* in a unique fashion (which is much more important for a gameworld). Making everyone look unique is a waste of time if their actions aren't taken into account. Look to Morrowind for that. Every NPC is by and far, largely different in visual terms, yet, 90% or more of them are carbon copies of each other in terms of actions or dialogues.

I guess the point is, it wouldn't be hard to make one more character model or make a different texture set, but there really isn't a benefit at all, given the little importance to the game the character in question has.

It's not that there's no benefit. It's more of a priority issue. Spending time and creating a new model or skin for a character as minor as Violet (who has nothing to do with the storyline) is a waste of time and resources. If you were Remedy, which would you do first, making new hooker models or perfecting BT 2.0?

The contradiction between you killing her and the interrogation line-up I forgivable, but her appearing twice in the police station, what's so wrong about that? She's reporting a crime. Okay. She's in the line-up. Okay. What's the problem? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif You never see "both of them" the same time.

Well we can see the "old drunk cop"[ODC] 2-3 times too...btw, if you haven't seen "them". http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif There is a logic behing this. Somewhere. Maybe you are suposs to she her complaining before the line-up...or maybe she is not complaining if you dont check the line-up first. Suspects are put free right after the line-up? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I've got no problems concluding that "Violet" is the same person in all three instances. I mean, she could report a crime, but then be asked to stand in a line-up -- ever see 'The Usual Suspects'? They state that often times cops will pay homeless guys $10 a head to stand in a lineup. She could have been "recruited" for the lineup.
