We finally have full-size screens, and they look even more spectacular than before.

The music as well is amazing. images/icons/shocked.gif

The proper full-res screens are welcome (along with the ones I hadn't seen). And just when I thought the MP theme couldn't be any more sorrowful...

Thumbs up. And I might be able to skate by on my hardware.

I just heared the music and wet myself...well, not really.

I LOVED the first game's music and this is just...beyond words! The violin is the best thing to happen to anything since anything. I love that minor-key, almost dickensian feel. It makes one feel like they are the hero in a hopeless situation.

I can run the game FULLY! 64 MEG Video Card and 512 RAM. I'm CLOSE with the processor,THANK GOD!

Ahahahhahaha!!!!

Look at this pic (http://www.rockstargames.com/maxpayne2/ss/screen11.jpg), it is Jim Bravura's desk behind him!!!

I just noticed that and got really excited. He got promoted from Deputy Chief to Liutenant!!!! Probably by capturing Max no doubt.

FullMetalJacket
08-20-2003, 08:06 PM
Lol, Killjoy, I never noticed that in the background before! Although this is set at least one year later, so it's totally possible that Bravura was promoted automatically, not necessarily just because he got Max. images/icons/smile.gif

Only the first three shots were new, but they were still nice. How about the third one, with Mona? Maybe, just maybe, she'll be a playable character, but to be honest, it would be silly if she just looked different from Max, I.E., a different skin. It'd be cool if she were actually different in terms of gameplay, like maybe she's faster and more agile and can regain bullet time more quickly, but can be killed more easily and fires her weapons more slowly, or something.

I love the new music!

The MINIMUM requirements are posted on the site!!!

1Ghz PIII/Athlon or 1.2Ghz Celeron/Duron processor
32MB AGP graphics card with hardware transform & lighting support
256MB RAM
1.5 GB hard drive space
Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
DirectX 9.0
Keyboard and mouse

They're pretty steep, but I'm not complaining, as my new killeRig (see my signature) surpasses them in every department. I'm glad Remedy didn't puss out and make the game look like shit just so people with dinosaurs for computers would be able to play it. images/icons/tongue.gif images/icons/smile.gif

I shed a tear (not a joke) when I first saw the Max payne 1 pics with the new updated engine. August 1999 I think, I could be wrong. You just get the feeling of: Damn, it is a good time to be a gamer, ya know?

And I don't know if anyone else does this but when I read Bludd's posts, I read them like Will Shatner is actually saying them. Weird.

Anyway, I noticed something else in the screenshots.

The guy Max teams up with in this pic (http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~maxpayne/oldsite/images/mp2/index.php?image=gs10.jpeg) with the white jacket, gets nailed by Max in the Ragna Rock later on in this pic (http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~maxpayne/oldsite/images/mp2/index.php?image=ign1.jpg) .

All new AI - cooperative NPC's fight with Max and more believable enemies create tension and more interesting and varied challenge.

A stunning level of detail: Extremely detailed environments with photorealistic textures, highly enhanced radiosity lighting and extremely lifelike characters (including facial animations & lip synchronization) provide a visually staggering cinematic experience.

Massive production values - including a motion picture stunt crew, professional talent for voice acting and graphic novels, motion capture and authentic digital source material from New York City. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I cant wait !

If this were the first game, then that would have just been some anonymous thug getting hosed since it felt like you were killing the same people over and over due to a lack of variety in most of the skins.

Personally I liked the piano better, but the sound quality on that loop in the flash site seems to kill it once it picks up. Any chance on an MP3 or OGG? It sounds kind of fake to me, it might be that the sampling on the sound clip is just poor.

And yes, we're really happy with how that turned out. images/icons/smile.gif </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Oh lord...that was like a knife to the heart. images/icons/frown.gif that Kartsy guy just CANNOT make event triggered music for an action game. Yes, the main theme was great. It had a lot of emotion in it, but the rest....ugh. Like when you were fighting the Trio in Punchinello's manor. The music should've been MUCH more intense...not comical. And the bank job at Rosco station. When Max stumbled onto the gangsters it should've been explosive, beat filled music.

....and don't get me started on ALL the music from the third chapter. Escpecially Byzantine Power Game (i think it was called). Where was the awesome tunes when the Swat teams were storming in on Max!? And why go the route of generic rock? This is a Hong Kong action inspired Noir story! I'm not asking for Propellerheads or even Techno at all. I just want to hear some music that SETS THE MOOD FOR THE ON SCREEN ACTION. The MP2 theme on the site is brilliant. Very dark and foreboding. I only hope that kind of emotive music is present when Max is gunning down a bunch of punk asses...

Good music in movies and games shouldn't be noticed, it should just set the mood. Best game ever to use this is Silent Hill, but I gotta say Max Payne did it well. Having heavy beats and pounding music as you start the action is so cliched IMO. I liked how it was in Max Payne, the music set the mood, YOU provide the beats and the action...

intel doesn't use rdram on their mobo's anymore, which is why a lot of people are saying that rimm's are dead.

Because mostly everybody with new comps use ddr, there is not much of a market for rdram anymore.

This game does look good. Some great textures on the world and even character models. Of course the real test is what does it look like in motion. System requirements are pretty reasonable, though I think most people still have only 128mb of ram images/icons/tongue.gif

DDR is actually better, and does not bottleneck the bandwith of the processor.

I read into this a lot, a few moths ago, and found out that RDRAM, is not the best choice anymore.

Look at any hardware site, like tom's hardware, or Anandtech.

[H]ard|OCP is also a great place for some hardware news/articles.

I think they should use slow, quiet and emotional tunes like the main theme as a in game music too. It would make the game even more like a bullet ballet...
