So I've been excited forever for MP2 to come out of course, and now I discover that my computer's not even meeting the minimum requirements posted right now.

If anyone can give me some kind of suggestions, here is my computer:
Notebook
P3 / 794 mhz
256 RAM
AGP-enabled 815EM Chip
Aside from those, I meet the rest of the specs listed.

Any suggestions, from anyone? Other then spending a few thousands on a brand new computer. Desperate.

Pretty much the only choice for you is to buy a whole new computer.

Get a desktop and just buy all the parts seperately and then put them all together yourself, it isn't too hard and there are heaps of people in the Hardware forum on this site who will help you out with that.

The reason is you have a Notebook and those things aren't very easy to upgrade. Very expensive to as well.

I have a Celeron 800 w/256 MB RAM and i810 onboard video. Even my neighbor's PC with 2Ghz Celeron, 512 MB RAM, and onboard video 845G chipset will only be able to play at minimum detail as MarkusRMD pointed out. I'm thinking though that you might be able to simply put in a PCI video card that's 64MB and make sure it can do T&L because as some of my other neighbors just discovered, lots of video cards don't do T&L even though they're 32/64 MB AGP .

Another idea that comes to mind is wait a few months until Max Payne 2 is given its final patching. Like the first one, Remedy may quietly loosen up the requirements on MP2 while patching it to reach out to a wider audience.

I actually wouldn't break the bank for a new computer. You should be able to play alright with minimal graphics. Then again, I haven't played Max Payne 2, but I could run Max Payne 1 with 800mhz, Radeon 9000, 192 RAM and I had everything full blast.

Between 800 Mhz and 1.2 Ghz, you rarely notice much of a performance boost anyway.

Word from the wise seems to suggest that 815e gfx chipsets do infact work with Max Payne2.

The game will however run slow, and at a very low detail setting.

Once I get a new PC in 2005, I'll gladly replay Max Payne 1 and 2 in full detail and if Remedy goes for a Max Payne 3, get ready for that one and make sure my new system is up to it.

At a resolution of 640*480 and no AA or AF maybe, but I wouldn't call that "full blast". 1024*768 or higher, 4xAA (or 6x even) and 16xAF with everything at highest would be full blast.

And chaosdax, I suggest putting up $1k to get a somewhat-proper computer. With that you'd get a machine that would run any game released this year (and many that'll be released next year).

My computer is:

Pentium 3- 1.7G
64MEG graphics card (Hercules 2)
128 MEG DDR RAM

I was reading on the official site that the MINIMUM requirements were a 1 GIG chip for minimum graphic detail. Any speculation on what the requirements would be for maximum graphic detail? I have a feeling i'll need to upgrade.

^With 128MB RAM? Hardly. Atleast get more RAM.

Not like Hercules 2 is the king of videocards either, minimum yes, recommended no...

Amazing what I could call acceptable when I had a worse computer though, like 15 fps images/icons/smile.gif

512MB for recommended I'd say.

Thanks for your feedback, everyone. Wxpoet is on the money there- more RAM. 256 DDR is what I have in mind. The processor is...O...K but it would be nice to upgrade it, but I think i'll survive for another 6 months. The video card is getting a little dated as well.

So priority is:
1) RAM
2) Video Card
3) Processor.

Thanks again!
