Looks nice enough, looks just a tad too long though, not sure. How many polys?

the textures are bad, i can't really say much about the model from one pic which is taken from the side... too long yes if that ain't intentional

i like the gun.
Too blurry, it's need to be more high res.

very good DeFlex, the texture needs to be polished though http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hey DeFlex are you available for modelling jobs? Cause I need a gun that looks like that a bit, for a mod I am making with a set of other people.

See, my young padawan: when you express your judgement about something, you should justify, give an explaination. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
I think you would go mad http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif if I (or someone else) said
"It sucks"
about your "Lobby Level", without any explaination.
Just: "it sucks". http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nelson.gif
And then: "I can see what really sucks, 'coz I'm cool http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif, and I won't tell ya what's wrong 'coz you're not so cool!" http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
ADM wrote a very useful comment. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
But, you, my young padawan, just wrote "Bad textures". Not so useful. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
And, of course: if those smilies aren't enough to show the sarcasm in my post, I will write it down here:
THIS POST WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SARCASTIC...

bad textures are bad textures, if you had any inteligence you would have noticed what i meant by bad textures... bad textures are bad textures. most usually blurry or just very bad quality.... i thought it was pretty feckin obvious.... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well that depends how you see it, doesn't matter if the textures are blurred really if it's for Max Payne, more important how many polys it is, and the texture can be improved later. But yeah, these short answers you give are useless Jokke_r. Doesn't hurt to elaborate.

shouldnt this topic be renamed to:
"the art of usefull posting"
but no... wait a minute...
this topic was started to let some guys' gun be criticized...
So...
I must agree on the bad textures... especially the darker bit above the handle... but maybe its just a bad PIC... who knows... maybe its wise to put up more images of the gun... and long? well... yeah... but i would like to see some more screens... before i can really say something about this model...
Jokke_r

i don't think i need to explain why a texture is bad... a bad map can be of many reasons, and surely the texture wasn't made by him so it doesn't matter what i say about it...
saying bad texture should be enough for most people...

u can fix that by finding a higher resolution texture or sharpening the image. It's hard to tell from that image but ingame u do want hi res textures for Mp2. Look at Remedy's, they are superb, makes the gun look totally real. I can't even find textures like theirs on the net...not even on counterstrike guns. You'd need a digital camera to snapshot the actual gun.
The model looks good.

its generally not a good idea to take a texture straight from a photo. What i'd do would be to get a photo first, resize it to a higher res, then manually touch it up and sharpen it with a photoshop brush, you'll find it'll still have a realistic quality, but be a lot sharper still.
Uniq: you've got no chance of searching for textures on google and finding remedy quality textures, but counterstrike guns are the worst textured guns ever X(. You might try emailing lonewolf - http://d3920694.u44.webgatedns.com/gallery_3d.htm - and asking very very nicely if you could use one of his guns http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Actually this gun IS this long. I'm not positive this is the gun he is modelling, but I'm 99% its an AMT Hardballer Longslide. The slide really is that long...kind of insane, but way cool.
And yes, I agree that the textures need some help. But I do like the model a lot. It gets even longer if you add a silencer! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Looks nice, but it's too high poly. You need more detail in the textures and less in the model. For games it's a waste of resources otherwise, but for renders it's fine. Just a tip http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Its better, yes. But I'm kind of wondering why some part of the texture seem to have a fuzziness to them, or a kind of blurriness.
If you go into MP2 and fire any gun and then pause...when it rotates you can really see the quality of the textures. Try and match that. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

actually I only see a couple of places where he could reduce the polys...the high detail (L0) of the MP5 in MP2 has almost 2,000 polys...
and although you need good textures...texturing will only get you so far...as games get more complex...the polycount goes up...as well as the realism
IMO that gun is to low-poly to be used for the purpose of quality renders...if that was the case everything including the grip bumps would be modeled..

This is an MP5K Neverman made for a mod of mine 2 years ago, this is 681 polys http://www.turbosquid.com/Previews/Content_on_10_19_2002_17_21_12/MP5K__TS.max_thumbnail4.bmpEDC5CB7E-38E4-4F0F-A19967FC394AE0FB.bmpLarge.jpg
Apart from the wrong color stuff on it that we ignored back then (I wanted that kind of cartoony look) that gun doesn't need a poly more, especially not for a game like Max Payne, for a real-time scene sure. But nothing needs to be over 800 polys with a good texture. His Knights SR-25 Widowmaker was even betterlooking. A good skin can practically eliminate 75% of those polys.

This picture shows what the gun looks ingame. I dont think its so bad.
