Well, aren't we full of surprises. The release dates for PS2 and XBOX versions of Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne are out.

And the word is

3rd of December 2003 .

This is for the North American markets. The release dates for other markets will be announced a bit later, but it will not be too far off from that date.

wow thats so soon from the pc mp2 being released. i remember before after mp1 on pc were released the console versions would come in 1 yr after and to have the xbox and ps2 versions made available soo soon thats really unbelievable. just so i like to know, who did the porting for the ps2 and xbox of mp1 and will they be doing the same porting for mp2 again in those console versions?

as i heard before, the levels in mp1 were edited and tweaked cos of the limited ram and power in ps2 unlike that of the pc. will that happen for mp2 in the console versions that those levels will and other stuff will be cut out to make more room for other cool gameplay stuff?

i just find that weird that we all hear the release of the console mp2 games soo soon i have to wonder if there was any pressure from the publishers that are making you release them ports so suddenly. you should probably just release the console mp2 games at a later date so you can give yourselves a lotta time on improving the game and add sum extras that you couldnt do on the pc cos of time constraints as well as sit back and watch as your game go up in the charts and then read up on reviews and see what strengths and weaknesses mp2 have this time just so you know what you will work on and fix up on in the console versions just like id did for their
wolfenstein on the pc game. they waited around a while, read sum reviews, figured out what worked and what didnt in the pc game and then improved on it in the xbox and ps2 versions on the game. the same for unreal 2, serious sam, ghost recon, rainbow 6 3, gta3 and vice city all on xbox they all are gonna be improved and better than their pc counterparts.

you should focus on the pc game first before you start thinking of having them on consoles soo fast. its just my opinion really. images/icons/smile.gif

This is great in comparison to DooM 3. I remember id Software saying they'd release the console version around 6 months after the PC version. images/icons/shocked.gif

for the xbox mp2 game make it so that it has xbox live enabled so that way we can download the latest updates, patches and content on the game while we play so that way the game will always be on top just like the pc version and rid of bugs at the same time.
i hate having games with bugs and annoyances in them and having to put up with them a lot.

another thing, will ps2 and xbox mp2 have special levels specific to each console like soul caliber 2 had with nintendo ps2 and xbox?
or what about newer weapons instead, like ps2 will have this certain weapon and the xbox will have another type of weapon what about that?

id love to see sum extras in the mp2 xbox n ps2 games, like as in maybe after completing the game we get the outtakes and see the voices behind max, mona, alfred, vladmir, and the rest stuff up their lines and maybe check out the motion capture outtakes as well and see how they operate with that.

oh and a level editor in the console mp2 games will be nice ;

Well, with Max Payne in 2001 it went so that the PC version was released at the end of July. The PS2 and XBOX NTSC versions were released just before Christmas that year.

The PAL version of PS2 was released right after the new year (January 7th, if memory serves).

The PAL XBOX was released in March 2002, but that was because XBOX the console was not introduced to the European markets until then.

So, all in all, it did not take that long even then.

The console ports are being made by Rockstar Vienna with Remedy's assistance. Work on this front has started much earlier than last time.

As for the specific questions on the console versions, I can not answer those yet, because a) I don't know
b) this is still Work In Progress
