I'm just messing around w/ making a 007 mod. ive added new menus/music, bullettime music and new weapon sounds. I was wondering if neone would like 2 make a walther ppk and a silenced waltherppk for me, also the poses even though that is just a joint. because i don't have 3dsmax 5.1 thanx

i was considering doing a p99, and a silenced ppk. or just a ppk and a silenced ppk, but no way is there going to be a supresed p99...haha, what are ur thoughts and to be back on topic...would you like 2 make one for me?

If I had the patience I could probably do a decent model of the P99, sans the textures and actually getting it in-game; partially because I'm lazy, I suck at creating textures, but mostly because I'm lazy. I have an Airsoft P99 springer, so I'd have the hands on material, but it's not a licensed model, so there would be small differences (missing/misplaced logos, etc.).
So, in short, no, I don't have the patience or free time right now to help you out; sorry. And the PPK would be a little harder and uglier to model, since it's more round than the P99. Of course I'm thinking Half-Life poly count limitations I've been going by since I started about 3-4 years ago ... I guess it wouldn't be so hard, then.

but atm i have not soo much time.. so i cant map anything for you (even if i would be pleased if i could) ....

thx, i can texture the ppk no problem. itI am a decent modeler and could do one myself, but I don't have 3dsmax 5.1 http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif so i need someone else 2 do it. If i ever do get 3dsmax 5.1 i will make all the charachters, i.e. jaws, oddjob, valintine, largo etc...so far i have some silenced ppk sounds that work good, although i am having trouble getting the new bullettime music to work...anyone know of a tut. that they followed word foor word? i have tried akari's but i think i'm messing up on something, i've changed all the paths and everything for mxpn2 instead of mxpn1...anyone have one?

No, a P99 is a 40S&W or 9mm gun, and can have a suppressor in real life.

oh, haaha, i thought they were about as big as a deagle from pics..guess i was wrong, i would love 2 have that but the ppk/ silenced ppk is a manditory thing, even the loading bar is a ppk...haha. p.s. i am going 2 give a go at a 007 watch (like pause in goldeneye) for use as bullet-time hud!

I've got a CO2 bb gun Walther PPK, too ... if I had a digital camera I could probably do some real nice reference pictures. :P

yeah, thats exactly what he says! If you could give me some pics of your ppk i would appreciate it, i would need front back and top, a side view too. I have the health bar completed, halfway done w/ bullettime bar. What should i replace the painkiller symbol w/? does bond ever use any health paks??

I WAS GOING TOO, DID U MODEL THAT...IF SO ITS GOOD PLUS I WOULD LOVE 2 USE it. I think i could just replace painkiller.kf2 w/ it and keep same name and it would work...i have bullettime done, starting MARTINI!
p.s. will anyone model a ppk,p99,(just export a glock I made into kf2), or a gun that they used in goldeneye...it was called soviet somthing, looked like an ak47, also add silencers 2 the ppk, and or p99?

just so u know, i started a dmw map of the part in 2nd level of goleneye, right at the end w(the tank room) where u place all the bombs.also in goldeneye, i am going to try to recreate the part where bond shoots the locks of the cages and all thae barrels come flying out!

*cough* i will post some a screen as soon as i think its perfected enough, i'm trying to have a pic of the 007 wathc w/ 007 inside of it ass bullettime meter? doesneone knowhow u could do this? p.s. if neone has a copy of 3dsmax v 5.1 that completeley works w/ max payne 2 i would be willing to make an offer on it! even just the discs burnt to a cd..but uve tested them all and they work i could settle for.

The reason bond uses a ppk in goldeneye is because he hasnt been assigned a P99 yet....notive in tomorrow never dies, when he spots a P99 in the shop/hideout of the chinese spy chick, he says "ah the new walther, ive been asking Q to get me one of these"

behold the ultra n00b ppk, issued only to agents who dont care if there gun looks shitty and uncool.
this is my attempt at a ppk, as you can see i havnt been able to do the slide\barrell well at all http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif and textureing sucks but thats just because ive only been textureing for about 3 hours total.
(oh the tops orange and the slide is black cause it isnt finised yet)

I think its a pretty good start, i have a texture of a ppk, ill put it on here. If you can keep the breach consistant in texturing like the handle i think it would be damn well enought to use in my game, although i wish it was black

so what do u think of the texture? I have everything done on hud cept' for the overlay of the watch...don't know how to do that, does neone, i saw in the civil unrest mod, i htink if i keep alpha the same, and paint the hud around it it might work...be pretty hard though, also i am trying to find a program that calculated the colors in max payne for the remap effects, i.d. 345fff92 or somthing like that, i have HEXED! but it onhly works w/ 6 digit numbers and even then it doesnt work...unless i'm doing somthing wrong.

yup, ill have a shot at redoing the ppk altogether, that texture doesnt suit the model i put together so ill do another one using the textures as a reference, unless you have some references to go with that texture.

hmmm, i sent that kf2 file off to you, but i dont think that you should use it, i just looked at the poly count on it and its about 643 polygons http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif and considering the original painkiller model is proberly about 80 or something..........

just a simple clarification: the Walther PPK has been Bond's mainstay since the beginning of the movies. however, Bond has used a P5 once (in Octo*****)
Starting with "Tomorrow Never Dies", Bond acquires a Walther P99 and it becames his new standard.
...at least I think that's how it is.

Well considering that you didn't really texture the gun (since you just took that pre-made texture) it's alright I guess.
Although make it all black.. here I did this quickly, recolored the whole gun and also remade the light:

yea, i should have worded it different, its only the second time ive applied a texture like that to a model, i havnt made any textures of my own yet (still need to read some tuts) but thanks for going over that texture, the breech thing doesnt look so 'rusty' anymore. did you just use photoshop to adjust it?

Actually, IMO, you should have a martini as the health display, like the more it's filled up with red, the more injured he is. And the watch should be bullet-time--the more the watch is filled up with whatever color, the more bullet-time he has.

ok, ive run into a weird problem with the ppk, its ingame alright, but when it fires Po0f, the gun disapears?! anybody experienced this problem when using 3ds max and remedys plugins? if so it would be great if you could help out.

well i fixed the problem by using milkshapes shoddy kf2 exporter, but if anybody still has a solution using 3ds max instead of milkshape i'd still like to hear howto fix it

@canada dry, ive sent the email off with the unsilenced gun, and yes the texture does have the sliencer on it so it wont be hard to add a silencer. i should be able to email it off to you before the end of today.

ok, i have started the first level *note, i guess this is going to be a TC, I got more into it than i thought i would...and i'm getting 3dsmax5.1 soon, i have ordered it http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/woot.gif, so when i get that i will be busy w/ some other things so i will still be contributing to this mod...just only like 45% of the time, the other half will go to some other stuff i want to do, but neways i am now anticipating this as releasing as a TC, sometime in the next 1-2 months (is that too long?, for like 4/5 levels and a graphic novel)* and it is an underground sewage tunnel(s), there will be 4 or 5 paths to completing the level. The premisis is Bond got information that there was recent terrorist Virus' in exchange for weapons and money (like always). The texture doesn't fit the gun properly, it's squashed up. Look at the light, it's supposed to be round but it's squashed and getting cut off.

currently center of that meter (where Bond stands on white backround) is BT meter and gun barrel (rest) is health, normally it's white, but when you loose heatlh it turns red from up to bottom, just like it happens in movie intro.

What do you use to make those skins? I have photoshop 7 and I can't update it to 7.1 for some reason. So every time I try to make a skin look different, I have no idea what tools to use and it ends up clipping in the game or something. For instance, I tried to make max's shirt black with no tie and it just shows the normal white with a hint of black sometimes. It's really annoying and some tips would be greatly appreciated. Cos then I might be able to skin for a mod like this.

I use VCW Vicman's Photo Editor (a free PSP esque program) to do color editing and designs (camo and the like) And I use MS Paint for the copy/paste stuff... MS Paint is so easy to use and Vicman is more advanced (but less user-friendly), so the combo of them works pretty well.... (I don't have PSP or Photoshop)

Yea, the skin does look a little odd. Sorta the George Lazenby-Bond. Big chin though. I think you were shooting for more of the Brosnan-Bond.

hey, i'm getting an error when i try to start a level with vlad's skin: character S_vladamirLem capsule too small for camera sphere, anyone ever seen this before? is it saying that the jumppoint is to close to a wall for the camera to fit? Ill try creating an entire new skin.

If I ever get 3dsmax5.1 I will definatly make some new models..at least a jaws and an oddjob. so far the first level is only a lil bit into as i have spent most my time on gameplay/skin/HUD (p.s. when/if i ever do get 3dsmax i might have 2 ask you aztec on how to import it if i have a problem...I saw your sf model ingame, looked great)

you need to add more code stuff (what youve done is fine for getting your custom pfx, but its only half of what u have to do), when the strikers bullets hit a person it calls a certain particle fx, (default character hit im not sure), you need to either change the strikers bullet hit pfx, or create a new projectile that uses your new particle fx, note the strikers bullets might be shared with the shotgun i think, so if u choose the first option of editing the default bullethit your shotgun may have the same pfx as the striker.

ok...i figured out the striker thing...too bad it wasn't a surprise in the mod, oh well. I'm gonna go out and tell everyone chapter 1 will be released early june (like june 11) if all goes well. My biggest problems at this point are getting the maps done and I need some voice actors, for chapter 1 i am going to need 3 different voices. One for a enemy(s) another for enemy(s), and yes...A voice for Bond. I've heard Wiggleworm is voice acting and it would be cool to have him. You don't have to sound like bburt renolds, I don't care if your voice cracks every 5 sec (for the ememy's), now for bond i'm just gonna need a person who could sound like a sophisticated guy. Hows that sound?

At the beginning of the level bond has just climbed his way down to the Underground Tunnels of Red Square where it is suspected a major drug and weapon trade has been going on for a few months...maybe even years. Follow the hints that I will leave you in the game and look for major helpful shortcuts to defeating the sentinals and create classic Bond moments. There will be some moments when Bond will encounter useless rooms, so don't get frustrated if you can't find a key or a new weapon in a random room. For more tips just email me...

ok, when i make keys in animation i use autokey and i have the animation done (yeah i erased all the keys for maxwalk_08) and I get an error about macroscrips ... "-no "readvalue" function for undefined???so i figure ill try exporting as .kf2, adn i get this error when loading level... Thats your problem, if you reinstall the mod tools and re-extract the mp2 ras files, allow it to intall to its default path, c:\maxpaynedev\ and the scripts will work fine.

Its called crouch.kf2, replace it wih your own and it'll work.
Vlad doesn't have a individual skeleton as all the chracters share the same max payne skeleton. In other words it'll work with vlad and any other male character

Nice weapons & martini painkillers. The FPS aspect I'm not to fond of....but if you want Goldeneye, it's close. I LOVE the beta level....it oozes Bond (in the action sequences). The blue effect in bt is nice...The new hud's good too....The face looks JUST like Bond. The jacket's THE BEST THING EVER!!!

Okay; Criticism:
Skin: cool, but you could use a model instead. actually looks like mr. brosnan, great job!
level: i suppose, but its not THAT good. but its good for testing new stuff, like weapons, and ragdolls, etc.
Bullet time: I love it, starts fast, and goes slower (inblend time), and the colour blue really suits the whole thing.
weapons: didn't really notice them, so i cant say positive/negative things about them
now. what you might need:
a mapper. I take this will be a TC, and i can't WAIT to see when 006 falls down, in true bullet time (could maybe use the Vlad skin for him, since vlad looks a bit like Sean Bean)
Voice Actor. nothing wrong with the already one, but, it's not "bond" enough.
nothing more i can remember right now, but, I'll let you know.

It's looking very good. An especially cool part of FPS with current day pixel shaders is that when you walk around and bump into a mirror you can see yourself.
I don't know if anyone has played Metroid here but there you are FPS in a suit with a helmet. Whenever there's a big explosion you see yourself reflecting in the glass of your helmet, that's pretty neat.

You have the base and mechanics in place..now all u seem to need is some maps. If I were you I'd try to recruit some mappers....either experienced mappers or those just starting out. I'd also look at pics from the recent bond game to design your levels

Well I'm a mapper just starting out canadadry, and I would love to make you a map or two.
Unfortuneately, I have no 007 source material (dvd's, videos), and when I say just starting out, I mean just
starting out.
All I have done successfully is the MaxEd2 tutorial on making your first level and I have rendered it. There are still so many things about MaxEd2 that I just don't get.
But still, I am persistant and would love to make a level for you.
Are your levels going to be original ones or based on the films.
If they are going to be based on films there are going to be a few boss models you're going to need to make.

Just saw maximan's preview, and seeing the pic of one of the weapons, i most say texturing is pretty bad.
Bond skin looks awesome though.
FPS doesn't sound to cool. It's a waste of the bond skin too.

you only would get to see the back of him in 3rd person view, which is just a guy with blackhair and a black suit. The face is the important part of the skin, and you only get to see that in cutscenes, as Uisor said. I quite like a mod in First person, it makes a nice change (although my opinion is probably not very reliable since I haven't actually played the mod).

i too think that fps in this is good, althou' I haven't tried the mod. But between Nightfire and Everything or Nothing I like Nightfire more because of it's fps view, but EoN is better as a game (exept it's MP).

I'm not sure actually. Does anyone know if it's possible to make it so that you can switch between first person and third person view. Maybe it could work the same way as the way you switch between normal third person mode and sniper scope mode with the sniper rifle. Surely it would just require the same code as the sniper rifle?
Also, is there a PPk and a P99 in this mod?

If the body shows in first person view, you should enable a "shooting yourself in the foot/leg" feature ... thanks...I don't really want any mappers...I think I know alot (or at least enough) of MaxEd to make quality levels. Plus I am only releasing one bigass map for the first chapter and i don't want to have alot of people working on one part of a map...kinda hard 2 do too. I wouldn't mind some help with coding...such as when you shootododge in bullettime let bullettime keep running, thats fun. I had it done at one point but i must of messed w/ somthing and f***** it up. Also is there any way to make the mp5 and all the other 2 handed weapons shoot animation/pose the same as the dragunov's? cause the sniper rifles shoot anim is in a perfect height for a fps. Any help would be appreciated

I like FPS in the MP engine too, especially using the deserteagle dual in BT rocks hard this way. I use FPS almost always in my tweak mods, i like it more than the normal third-person-view.

all u should do is have a bond skin that enables first person...and a bond skin that is normal, And load the level by speciying that skin, that way u don't have to set the camera level wise.

The First Person mode is made by tweaking a few numbers in globalconfig.txt.
Globalconfig.txt applies to ALL characters.
It's impossible changing the camera for one specific character.

yeah that was me...
canada dry when you play any game in first person you notice the weapon models and textures a lot more, so if I were you I would improve the model and texture of that PPK, because I know that all the other weapon models from the handguns mod are fine. It is just easier to see the faults in the gun models in First Person.

And Sentinel without doing a cam attach you can actually set two different camera's in MP2.
And in the skinfile you can set AlternativeCamera=FALSE; to TRUE to use it.
Mona uses this camera.
