editing mip-maps

ok i read somewhere to edit a .dds properly you have to edit the mip-maps. (i also realised it myself)

Well these mip-maps go on forever away way back into the picture into a tiny little dot.

they get generated when you save the file, you dont edit them. at least i dont

What I do is I edit a random dds file then I save it and when the save screen for dds files comes up I uncheck ask to display mipmaps. Then I load the dds I want to edit, it doesn't show the mipmaps now and all you have to do is edit it then click generate mipmaps when saving. Hope this helps.
