As I said, I'm working on converting xdemo..and I notice that the original level had fog in it. It gave the level a hazy look. I know there is a fog fsm but how does it work, and is that how he did it?

It's in the Levels.h, and levels.txt

Fogging = FALSE;
FogColor = ( 32, 32, 32 );
FogStart = 1000.0;
FogEnd = 2000.0;
AmbientColor = ( 128, 128, 128 );
WorldSphere = "generic_c";

that's one original, here's what you want:
Fogging = TRUE;
FogColor = ( 32, 32, 32 );
FogStart = 1.0;
FogEnd = 2000.0;
AmbientColor = ( 128, 128, 128 );
WorldSphere = "generic_c";

The fog controls in MP or MP2 is very much similar to the fog in 3dsmax (except that it lacks some features which exist in 3dsmax).To understand how the settings affect the fogging, I'd suggest to have a look at the Official 3dsmax help file. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'd suggest to play with the MP2 console, and when you've nailed the right setting go with it.

Hey thanks guys! Pippen himself told me the settings he used...and it worked out great. The level looks COMPLETELY different and moody now...before it just looked like a regular lit room. Xdemo is back FYI..Alexandar also told me he has made a DMW level...I can't wait too see his work

Hey Mr. Uniq how good are you with the model editing? Are those your own models or are they imported?

The map is looking VERY nice. You know, Civil Unrest is always interested in mappers http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif We'd be glad to have more talent on the team.

Ontopic: Have you tried making the room a bit darker so that the lights cast on objects aren't as sharp? FOr example the yellow cone-thingie (hehe) in the background looks too bright and contrasts too much with the map, maybe you could make the room a bit darker overall or just reduce the bridghtness cast on that particulr object.

All credit for this map goes to Pippen..I just cleared it out...re scripted the events and cinematics...not perfectly as the original but it functions 98% correctly.

I have two similar sized maps that i've completed along with this one, so I used this a learning xperience.

Oh the models...I only know how to manipulate models, I can't model characters from scratch...haven't taken the time to learn that.

Yeah, with the fog it looks really nice, but I would make it little bit darker to get it more moodier.

So this was originally MP1 level?

isnt that the first level in metal gear solid?...the armory where the tank is in the middle, then a big door on right w/ an elevator on the left...the elevator would take you down below to the holding cells where you meet the DECA president (not sure if its DECA) and he dies then somehow theres a naked chick downthere

I know u guys may wonder why convert this map...but it's one of the few MP maps that i have played even up to this day...maybe because most MP maps sucked. But this is the same..but it doubles as a DMW map too, u can switch it inside the level.
