View Full Version : dds textures for train from Max Payne 1.

Hey, everyone.

I'm trying to make a underground station level, so I converted the Max Payne Roscoe Street level to lvl2 format,
Although I pasted in the train okay, I have a problem with it:
You can walk through it because it uses old textures.
So I was wondering does anyone know where you can find the textures for the train in dds format?
I had tried to rip the jpeg ones copied (from Roscoe) to my level so I could convert them to dds myself with ldb2rip, but that didn't work because it didn't recognise the jpeg textures.
So what I'm basically asking is:

Does anyone know where I can find dds or (jpeg textures I can easily convert) to fit the MP1 train?
or:
Is there a LDBRIP, that rips JPEG textures from MaxEd lvl files, so I can get them straight from Roscoe and then convert them that way?

Well, there is a Roscoe level in MP2 out already http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif.
But there is an LDBRIP. Dunno where you can get it, Google it.

Yeah, i think you mean the bonus level in FTK0.8, right?
That's another place I tried to get the original train texture from. But it seem's that ThoRCX must have used a mixture of JPEG and DDS in that level (what I'm currently doing in mine, will change all to DDS though) so ldb2rip didn't manage to rip the texture I needed.

Thanks for your help though, I will try and find the original ldbrip on Google.

I realised to use ldbrip, i would need Ras Maker to extract the MP1 Roscoe Street ldb file and since I don't really need Ras Maker that much it seems like a waste of time just to get 1 or 2 textures.

Does anyone know where I can find the original train texures as is so I can convert them straight to dds?

No, i don't mean the bonus level of FTK. It's the ripped version from the lvl Remedy released where i'm talking about.

what exactly is the problem? jpg texture still work, so unless the textures aren't in 2^x format everything should work fine. whatever problems occur for you aren't caused by the texture. you said something about missing collisions?!? check the mesh preferences for collision or what category the texture is located in. mind you that you can copy the texture right out of maxed by right clicking on it and selecting "copy diffuse to clipboard". then you can paste it in photoshop, paint shop pro or whatever application you preferr and save it as jpg or dds.

I have fully functional MP1 subway train in .lv2 format, but it uses .jpg textures. Made it few months ago when someone was having troubles exporting level where it was.

The texture was in metal_outside catergory,
What collision properties do I change to stop Max from being able to walk through the train?

i noticed that also with mp1 levels/prefabs... they all have the player collision box unchecked.
