How do you do multi floor or story buildings? I've been trying to figure this out for some time. And how come when I try to make water based sectors (sectors are the same size) it crashes the game when I enter the water via the corner or edge? And how come the earth/moon sky texture always causes me to crash when used as a parallax sky in a sector?

the water sectors: place the SE on EXACTLY the same place relative to the sector. this means if you have 2 square sectors (one above and one below the surface) and in one you have placed the SE on the first cross in the left-top corner of the sector you will have to place the second SE in the second sector also on the first cross in the left-top corner.

The paralaxt textures of the moon are suposed to kill the player when he enters the room. It would have been a space sector that would require a spacesuit to survive and since the spacesuit wasn't implented it can't be used except for traps. (in one of my maps which was in a spacestation I made a airlock, when you opent it you could see a devastor laying a couple steps further. and since the sector had a paralaxt moon-texture. You could never get it.)

multifloor buildings can also be made with fake floors made out of flat sprites.

I think he's saying "crash" when he means "instant player squish."

Set the ceiling palette to 3 on the bigorbit sky to nullify the instant-death effect.

Thanks for that. And what about the boss 1 dude, how do you turn him into his so called boss1 pal?

I tend to 'specialize' in space based maps. I use a forcefield for 'windows' on space stations and ship etc. But I'd like to know how to create 'windows' which block you and weapon fire from going thru without hurting duke? An example is the windows on the ships on the second episode of duke 3d.

change the texture on the maskable wall to bigforce (230) instead of the other texture and then get rid of the maskable wall. I know its kinda weird but it works.

Water problem is probably due to you getting the SE's misaligned causing a player to be teleported to null space when entering the water - which I have known on occasion to crash the game.
As for the parallaxed textures I've never come across that.
It may be that build doesn't have enough memory availible.

To build multifloor buildings simply overlap your sectors. The only rule you must observe is that you must not be able to see two sectors which overlap at the same time.

If your talking about making Boss1 into Mini Boss1, change his palette to 21 (alt+p)
