I know alot of you think, 'all these noobs coming on here with ideas really suck'. Well, I agree, cos alot of them have ideas that could never be achieved. Here's where the similarities between me and noobs stop. I have a cool idea that somebody *could* do. I'm not ordering anyone, just giving ideas. My idea is a Painkiller mod, with dismemberment figured and bullet time 2, you could have it so when you killed 66 enemies, bullet time activates in full slowness. Also the stake gun would be the best weapon ever to grace a max payne game and if the amazing levels of Painkiller could be recreated, this would be some kickass mod.

And the Painkiller textures are in the same format than Max Payne 2 (DDS) ! What a coincidence !

Yeah i was thinking of that, the three coding related features you listed are all pretty easy.

Indeed.. I thought people were over the whole "hey, let's rip everything from this other game!" bit of "modding" but I guess not.

I didn't want to 'rip' stuff, I thought it was a good idea. If you don't like it then you can not take part in it. Anyway, if your talking about people copying other stuff. What about all the matrix mods, the kill bill mod, the world war 2 mod. They all copy off something else, but that doesn't mean they don't look cool. Hell the WW2 mod even uses some textured from CoD. Go and tell them off quick Term.

@ Sentinel. No I don't mind! I already posted here basically asking for it to be done! I can't wait to see the result, sounds greta. You could use it as another impaling weapon in SS (or in a PK mod if you wanted).

@Ghast. I don't understand what you mean...?

@Jokke_r. I already did and it gets pretty repetitive, which is why a mod in Max Payne could be cool, you could add more features and keep the third person view for a change.

It's not your idea because they already did it in painkiller. And people are not just a newbie because your a newcomer, also because of your style and knowhow.

Ok, I understand now. But I didn't think I would be classed as a newbie, because I have some experience and have tried making mods for MP2. I released 2 but they were corrupted because they were compiled wrongly, and by then I had deleted the files. I also have made some of the best ragdolls for Max Payne.

We used some textures from CoD cause when playing a game it is all about the feeling.. And to see Max or some cleaner guy stand in the nazi buker aint that a "thrill" that it should be..

I'm having a few problems.
I was doing it like this:
Create an anim that goes very fast back, and because of the bounding box it will stop at a wall.
I made the anim emit projectiles (one every two frames), that if they hit a wall, they did a P_Explosion, i removed the projectiles at 0.1 seconds.
I had some trouble with getting them to actually do the P_Explosion, but when it did, it simply started the old damage type again and not a new one, which was the hanging on the wall anim.

So it was like:
-Damagetype goes far back and spawns projectiles
-Projectile does P_Explosion with other Damagetype
-Damagetype is another one than the old one, and does C_Kill(0);

But instead of starting the new damagetype, it started the old again...
So i'm gonna need to scrap this, unless someone comes up with a solution.
I can however, create the spinning thingy of Painkiller, and the dismemberment and gibbing.
Any other Painkiller thing that you'd like to have resurrected in MP2?

Umm, magnificent level design? Enemies 100 times the size of you? Umm...freezy thing on the shotgun? Rocket launcher? Scaryness sometimes? That's about all I can think of. Thanks for doing this Sent, and I hope you manage to sort out the stake gun thing.

*EDIT* I just thought of another one, enemies that can blind you temporarily. And ones that jump at you. Is that possible?

I personnaly find Painkilller more of an action game than a scary game though.
Dunno what you mean with the freezy thing, screenie/vid?
It is possible to make them blind you temporarily. I also noticed some kind of Blur on certain events.
I can also make some kind of blow back, because i think you blowed back in Painkiller when you got a large hit or an explosion, am i correct?

Yeah, you do get pushed back, it makes you like 'jump'. By the freezy thing i mean the shotgun's secondary attack which was a freeze gun. I can't find screenies for it. WHAT DO YOU MEAN NOT SCARY! I thought that the Asylum level was piss scary! lol. You could try to make some bits scary if you wanted.

Well wiggle, this is basically a mapping job. If you want it done you're gonna have to do it yourself (or do a basic map with the state switching), otherwise the thread has no purpose. giving props to Sentinel tho for the stake.

Well, it would still be cool in normal Max Payne to be running around sticking people to walls with a stakegun! Btw I was going to say happy birthday in my other post but I forgot, so happy birthday!

Hmm, i think i CAN do the stake gun!
They will not be staked, but i noticed while playing painkiller again they don't get staked always either.
Getting the stake to stick in the body will use the same technique as the throwing knifes.
