does it really look better on the x-box than on a pc like they claim?

Good for the console gamers! I am curious about how the graphics will compare. But I'm more intrigued by the differences between controller vs. keyboard/mouse.

IGN has started coverage of the Max Payne release for the Xbox. Their web site is running an article entitled "Ultimate Payne", and the first day of coverage is up (http://xbox.ign.com/news/40045.html). The first day gives some basic information about Max Payne (the game) - which will be familiar territory for those accustomed to the PC version of the game.

If you're not familiar with Max Payne, and have an Xbox, then you should check out IGN's coverage of the Xbox Max Payne (http://xbox.ign.com/news/40045.html) - you'll be glad you did.

You can also get more information on the PC version of Max Payne by visiting our Max Payne pages (http://www.3drealms.com/max/index.html) here on the 3DR site.

There is no release date set yet for the Xbox Max Payne (or the Playstation 2 Max Payne), but they're expected to be released shortly. Once a release date is available, we will bring that to you here.

I hear the graphics card in the xbox is 2 to 3 generations ahead of the top pc graphics cards being sold today. Of course I heard this from a saleperson trying to sell me an xbox so the info could be exagerated.

Peace

The X-box has a GeForce 3 Ti500 and is a P3 733 with 70 meg of ram.

I wouldn't. You can't tinker with and upgrade a console.

Plus you would then have to play the game in television resolution. Yep, resolution is one advantage PCs have over consoles.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you find it ironic that a console features one of the most advanced graphics cards available and yet it's showing its capabilities on a low res television screen?

IGN's Xbox Max Payne coverage has continued with days 2 and 3 of their "Ultimate Payne" series.

Day 2 (http://xbox.ign.com/news/40089.html) covered the basic weapons in the game, with some nice close-up shots of the various weapons Max has in his arsenal.

Day 3 (http://xbox.ign.com/news/40100.html) covered the more advanced weapons in the game such as the sniper rifle, and the Molotov Cocktail. Again, IGN provides some outstanding closeups of the various weapons.

Make sure and check out IGN's Ultimate Payne coverage as the week progresses. If you have an Xbox, then this will be one game you will want to get your hands on when it's released next month (the exact date is still unknown).

Then again, the TV makes everything look anti-aliased images/icons/wink.gif

The Xbox is also HDTV capable, so you have to have hardware in there for the higher end stuff, too.

It's a trade-off for me. I prefer a crisp, higher resolution that's slightly aliased over a 'slightly Vaselined' t.v. resolution that softens the jagged edges. images/icons/smile.gif

Even though Microsoft Touts that the X-Box is HDTV capable Joe, that doesn't mean it will work with it, until you buy the handy dandy HDTV adapter, for only $40... that's $40 I'm saving up for DNF, thank you.. :-)...

this reminds me though, I once wrote a letter to 3drealms... now I'm really embarrased by it, becuase I was in 7th grade, and couldn't spell or had no idea about the gaming biz, I still don't, but now I realize that you don't just mail your ideas to game developers hoping they'd make your idea into a game.. duh..

I think that was before Duke 3d came out, which was.. what, 94? that was a long time ago.. what was my point again?
