I'm making a game from scratch inspired by Duke3D map mode. I'm kinda needing help as making a game from scratch is bigger than I thought. Where can I get the Duke3d source code that I can use for educational purposes?

What you can do instead is get the BUILD source code, as it has the top down map view in there aswell. It is the closest that you can get.
Oh, to get the sprites to rotate in the map view, you have to add in a rotatesprite() function to it.

Try www.rgpmaker.net (http://www.rgpmaker.net)
Should have a few links to overhead view engines, usually customizable, some with available source. And if you were the same guy posting in the warfaretc forums about mapview, I may have answered your question there.

Unfortunately you cannot obtain the source code for Duke Nukem 3D or any other application due to copyright protection unless the application is designed to run on Linux systems. Making 3D games is extremely hard if you're gonna do it by yourself. The most complex games may contain hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of lines of code, and also require a lot of knowledge of how computers work (for drivers etc.). Unless you team up with other people with a similar goal you won't be able to create a large game similar to Duke Nukem 3D or Doom or Quake by yourself. I only wish that was possible too!
