I was wondering, and this is simply an expiriment mind you: should I put third-person perspectives in my Novelization of Max Payne, or should I simply keep it strictly first-person (from Max's perspective)? For example, the greater majority of the novel would be in the brooding first-person perspective, told through the eyes of Max Payne ( I did this...and I did that, etc.). However, I could also break away from that first-person storytelling and use some third-person storytelling to describe what other characters outside of Max's realm of thinking are doing (ie Bravura, Winterson, B.B., Vlad etc.) I want to hear some responses from the fans to see what you guys think would be better: Strictly first-person Max, or mostly first-person with some third person views thrown in as well?
Let me know what you think by posting. Oh, and if you haven't seen the prologue to the Max Payne Novel, check it out right now. It should be on the forum somewhere nearby.
Keep it first, more personal that way.

First person, just as the games were written. It makes it much more compelling, not to mention how it makes the (countless) metaphores work. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Mine is strictly first-person. I wanted to try it as third-person, but I realized that the metaphors and much of the dialogue wouldn't make any sense if I switched it to third-person.

I think staying with a consistent first person would be the best idea. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I guess first-person is the way to go. I just thought that sprinkling some third-person views would spice things up. After all, I will have to do that a little in the second novelization since the story shifts from Max to Mona and back.

Staying inside Max's head for the most part is best.
However, if you really want to do others' points of view, you could do them as a sort of a chapter break or something. Just a thought, but stay in Max's head for the most part. That's what made the game fun in the first place.

I just wanted to hear what the fans thought. I will keep the perspective strictly to Max's first-person view. However, I will have to do some third-person viewpoints for the second game novelization.
