I have to admitthe metroid werent gonna work to many errors, so i've devised a TC with some of my friends. And it'll have 3 new DMW levels (i hope) all new weapons, sounds, characters, and it'll be like on the DMW you'll have you and 5 npc's and on the other team 6 npcs (non playable characters). But im gonna have to work out what team you want to be on. So metroid cancelled CS now hehe http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cool. Good luck. What DMW maps are you going to do? Aztec? Office? Dare I say...Dust?
Whatever you do, it shouldn't be too hard to make, even though it will be complicated and detailed ,because any good CS player knows those maps like the back of their hand.
Good luck with the models and skins and such. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

the maps that we are making are CS_Assault (dont know bout hossies yet), DE_Nuke (weve managed to make a bomb its really funny) and DE_Dust lol. and were improving the black ops models so they look counter-terroisty and terroisty.

Cool. Good thinking, those are all maps that will be much more "do-able" than such maps as aztec or siege that would simply be so huge that it would be impossible to make it in max payne and have a decent framerate. That is also a good idea for the models.
I wish you and your friends the best of luck. If you dedicate yourselves to it for a few hours every day or every other day, you can have at least a beta (1 map with most skins/weapons) ready for testing in a month-2 months. Just try not to pull your hair out and quit when you run into a snag (and believe me, you WILL).
Just remembe that we are all here for you, and if you have any questions please ask. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Now get to work!

Why do you think MP2 can't handle huge maps? Most MP2 maps are made out of way more poly's then CS maps + physics, more high res textures and models to render.
Also, there is a system designed to make the engine not render the whole map at once, it's called portals http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

I thought the same until I played Corwin's Reveal maps. Maintained good fps even with closed off areas opening to join newly discovered areas, something I have always had trouble with *LOL* pays to plan ahead I guess
Oh and check out this thread for some great ideas about how to capture the CS feel! *G*

That's true. It might be difficult, but with proper use of exits and things like that, even maps like aztec can be done (though that would be a nightmare with all the water and that bridge etc.)
Dust would be interesting because there aren't too many textures and it wouldnt be too dificult, but the map doesn't have a whole lot of rooms.... so you would have to focus on making the gameplay fun and enjoyable in order to make it work.

oh crap, didn't mean to post a comment in a sticky thread.
Something about In Typos We Trust *G* but when I tried to delete the post, I got a "we cannot proceed" error and use your back button - which duplicated the post! Argh.
So I apologise to the community and hopes this is fixed soon *sigh*
