Hadn't checked the Max 2 support thread in the Milkshape forums in a while. Just checked tonight and Mete has posted an update to let us know he's working on it. Not much beyond that, but hey, at least he's working on it. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

It will be appreciated, spent four hours trying to get my enemy AI janitor animating perfectly, and are/is/am soooo tired of scripting, testing, changing scripting, testing grrrr *LOL*

Mete gave me another update when I asked. Looks like it's close. YAY!
"The new animation and SKD import works now, except for the weapons it's not correct yet. When I have that, I can do the export.

I found this message from our pal Mete:
Do you load Max Payne 2 files? This will work in 1.7.2 only.

Here we go...
"However, I'm about to implement the Max Payne 2 export. There 2 adjustments. 1. for materials and 2. for the .skd files. The import works already, but the export is not finished yet. When it is done, I collect the latest plugins, update the shortcuts.ini and 1.7.2 is ready to release. There very last release date is before 1. Nov., because then I'm gone for one month ;-). But probably I can do it 1 week before.

Just a quick question and I know that I could probably easily find this out at the milkshape site but .. well I'm lazy http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Can Milkshape be used for animating (keyframe) the MP models and if so is the animation tools any good?
Also how much does it cost to buy Milkshape?

I've heard about $20, I am not sure http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif

@ ADM:
Modeling in Milkshape is bad.
Texture wrapping in milkshape is well ....... OK (enuf IMO)
Animating in Milkshape is really up to the pro standard.
Excellent so the best use for Milkshape is for animating?
If so that's awesome.. I'll definitely pick myself up a copy and start learning how to animate. Always wanted to learn (and have done a touch of animating in college but never really continued it on) and it's something that the community really needs.
We'll see how I go http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

But do be carefull coz AFAIR it doesn't have the tweening feature. So u gotta be a raw animator and have to do keyframe by keyframe in it.
Ghast
10-23-2004, 12:53 PM
no tweening? Might be a good thing, a lot of professional animation out there these days seems to use the default tweening settings and everything moves at the same rate.
This procedure and flash has set the study of animation back sixty years *G* (I say this only cause I am currently enrolled in an old school cell animation class and was brainwashed *LOL*)
Yeah that's cool, that's how I learnt.. although tweening would be nice http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Do you know if it's a planned feature for a future version? Has it been mentioned before, or don't you really follow the milkshape development?

I animated Marko's power-slam in Katana with Milkshape. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif It's a pretty good package. 3DS is of course better, but good luck affording it and learning it. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Yeah I learnt off 3DSMax 3.1, but of course since I'm a poor Australian boy I couldn't afford a copy and the only way I was able to learn off it was to use the College's copy.
But since I'm not there anymore I can't http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I'm going to Uni next year and I'm going to be taking Animation as part of my course so hopefully I can then use what I learn with Milkshape in that http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
