View Full Version : Elevator going up and down automaticly... how?
In my map, there's two levels - 1 and 2. They are connected by a squared sector, being the elevator. After hitting a switch that activates the elevator, I want it to go up and down automatically after that, with a certain interval between movement and certain speed. Can you guys help? How can I do it?
I want it so that before the switch has been hit, the elevator remains stationary. And then when the elevator is activated, I want the switch to have no effect on the elevator if hit more times afterwards...
The last part is not necessary, the first part is) Please help!

I'm not sure about the first part, I don't think it's actually possible with the duke nukem engine.
If you know how to hack cons and stuff, you might be able to change alot in the game..
You can do that the switch will be used once by putting a hitag of the equal times it can be used. This is also possible with Touchplates and other stuff.

I know you can make the elevator automatically go back down after some time, but you cant make it stay down persay, you would probably have to fashion a door that closes and you would need to put the switch on the otherside of the elevator.. I dunno I would have to do some experimenting..
EDIT: Also have you thought about maybe, setting a door thats open at the start, then putting a T SE to close it when you step out maybe?? Just a thought.

No... I personally haven't. But I thought of another cool unexpected thingie... I'm making a level for my TC. The level is an engineering sector on a military base. There is a place in the map, where you see a crusher going up and down in a corridor. It has enough interval between the movement for you to go through... but here's the thing: you shouldn't be actually going that way - as soon as you bypass the crusher, the next sector floor you step on is a touchplate... so when you step on it, another crusher unexpectedly squishes you from your right)))))) To avoid this happening... there's a dark corridor before the crusher which is hardly noticable.. that's the way! I'll include a little example later.. it's really cool)
Hey.. um.. one more question: can you make a wall texture scroll without the sector spinning? Like say you make a four wall sector and you want one of the wall textures to scroll to some direction. Possible?

The only way you can make a wall scroll is by adding a new sprite/defintion in the con for that to work... You have to make it so that the sprite's graphic follow in the con as it would in the game.. Sry for my harsh explantion, im rather drunk atm... but i fyou care to talk me while Im sober, I can give some defination to what I describe...

You can make an ubersmall sector near the wall and put a sector effector with a lotag of 25, it'll make the wall scroll to that direction.

Well I found a way to make a wall texture scroll... I know it's a noob one, but still... I made a really-really thin sector join the wall and made it's surface very steep. Placed an "S" on it with appropriate tag and it works pretty good... I also blocked the sector's wall so that you can't step on it and find out my secret)))
So is there any way to make the floor texture scroll? Like con hacking and etc.?
