Thanks. Maybe they could release two versions. A Mature and an 18+ only (which is the A version above).

In actual fact we, over here get rgulated by PEGI, but i prefered the look of the "A" rating mark to the big 18+ lettering. Personally i think that DNF will be 15/16+ as lots of violent and sexual content games are at this rating. Doom 3 being an exception with 18+ which i don't really have an idea why when Thief 3 is 12+ and Warhammer DoW is 16+, BloodRayne is 15+.... plenty of blood in all of them. Does anyone know what Half life was rated as?
To be honest although i have no problem with rating agencies, they don't seem to rate games very consistantly. Same with films etc.

It was (and is) rated T (13+). HL 2 however will be M (18+).

I think the DNF on top flap would be a great touch.

I like the nuke symbol with Flag and Duke Nukem forever in white over the flag.


Combine those two art works and put Duke on the front holding a CAR-15 with M203 launcher or a remington 11-87 shotgun attached, rested on his shoulder and barrel smokin. Desert Eagle in other hand pointed down to the ground. Also smokin. As the city of las Vagas reflects off of Dukes shades and his Gold plated DEagle.

the nuke symbol in the back is barely visible. raise it once you raise the logo.

get rid of the explosion/sparks around the nuke logo, they look out of place.

instead, possibly put the las vegas skyline around the nuke logo or keep it black.

And you might want to do what I did for the gunfire effect. Take an eraser tool and set the opacity to 50% and then start erasing the layer with the gunfire around the fiery edges so that they have a more transparent look to it.

I didn't put a publisher or esrb rating because that info could possibly change. Thanks, rocks that you guys like it. If it is going to be a cardboard box - I like duoae second dvd one, the one with the full city-scape in the background. Although not for a DVD version. For a DVD version I like codefishes idea.

For mine I just wish I could 3dmodel well enough to make an image that would show it better then some flat photoshop image.

lol, ya... I wish I had the skills to make the perspectives a bit better, but ya get the general drift. I made the top of the case according to Elmurfud's design sketch... looks pretty good actually! If anyone wants to improve upon my pic to make a great fake, I'll supply you with the materials I used...

Well if I had an image (in a close enough perspective) of Duke pointing guns straight at you. Say from the waist up that could work. I'd make it fade out towards the bottom of the case.

Why should the editor on the DVD be any different from the Discs set?
The diference between the 2 editions is:
- DVD instead of 6 Discs (I don't see why anyone would rather buy CDs anyways)
- A bbonus DVD with several hours of video tutorials on Level-editing, modelling, scripting etc.
- a Logitech Headset

Allready found one.

And the editor is supposed to be the same one as used by Epic to make the game. It does seem a little different. Though I don't know yet if I would say better.


As to why I don't buy games on DVD's normally:

-DVD players are slower then CD-roms.

-DVD lasers burn out easier.

-Most games in my area come out first on CD.

-CD's are a well established format and not going anywhere soon.

-DVD's are a test format and will be obsolete soon as the market is shifting towards blue ray.

-When Your unemployed you buy whats cheaper.

-I have yet to find a DVD drive that can come close to holding a candle to my 75x CD-rom drive.

And finaly.

-I don't like all the pushy/rude DVD fans out there trying to shove DVD in my face.

A CD design by anyone may be thuroughly pointless if they are going with electronic delivery. Of course if thats the case I won't be buying it. I am just to stingy to buy a something that I don't get a pyhsical product for, it grates against every fiber of my being.

well thanx I am glad people like it and the whole idea.

If they do put out hard copies, and if they do go with an idea based off this design; once it comes out and I buy me a copy (which would be the very instant I have the money) I am gonna drive the 60 miles over to their offices in plano and see if I can get them to autograph it.

If they do release hard copies but not ones that are even influenced by my idea (most likely that it won't be) I will still buy it the instant I have money but I won't be bothering them for autographs. I rather hate driving through Dallas.

Well, it's a long story...

I wanted to have Duke in a suit with a chain gun watching the sky opening up. Since I can barely draw breath, much less artwork worth seeing on even a mock up of a release box, I was restricted to browsing images via google.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find a lot of pictures of muscle bound guys in tuxedos looking at the sky. Damn this Internet thing, it never has the simple things I want. So I found a picture of a suit. Well, a mannequin to be exact.

Then I had to put a body builder's head on its shoulders. Of course, the hair looks like a bad dye job, because his hair was cut real short.

Of course the mannequin's arms were dangling straight down so I had to do a bit of transforming and cloning to make them appear to be moving inward as if the body were holding something.

It kind of reminds me of a school dance when perhaps you might see a football player carrying some random piece of equipment in.

Oh well. Win some. Lose some. I just had fun making it.

I'm trying to learn Maya and 3D studio, and a week ago I started a new model. He would be a blonde super-hero to my honour, and after the hair choise he did look very familiar with Duke. With a little change of colours and a attach with sunglasses he did get very familiar. But I did't have Duke in mind when making this guy, so he is't so much "Duke" in the end.

However, I decided to check out the 3DRealm forum if something had happened sins 2001, and then I saw this thread. So here are my suggestion. Have couple of things in mind, and we wil se if they will get to the picture.

No I pulled that off of the half nuke half duke box design. The only thing I did was a little photomanip so the angles fit.

In a time that really was Take2 logo, if my memory serves me correctly. All seem to prefer the "DNF" logo that has been used almost in everyone of these suggestions. The original 3D Realms is better than those grey/green ones. Duke has to pose in the cover in my opinion.

Wow that one is pretty awesome avatar! :), great use of non-duke stuff to make it Duke (The background). Not to mention the clarity and crispness of the image. Could be legit!!

I just thought i'd say one thing about that all-american jazz...

I get the sense that a lot of you don't like it...

Well...

There was this really great message that an australian dentist had written... About who an american was.... (and thus who could be considered an american hero) Basically it said, any and all people of this planet that come to this country legally with the will to be whatever it is they desire is an American, and an American Hero is anyone who defends said rights from any invaders (In this case, Mutants, Robots, and Aliens.)

Im not trying to stray too far off topic, but I just thought i'd say that those of us here who love our country and dig the whole American way of life are just proud of what we have. I've heard a lot of Europeans and others say that we are ignorant to assume we are the best. Well it *can* be vice versa, but thats not really what a lot of us are doing, we are just proud to be who we are (similarly, black pride is also an example.. Though when you think about it thats just another piece of being an American... or any person who lives in a free society.)

Sorry for that. I know it was off (my own) topic, but I just thought I should say something. :)

Thats the great thing about Duke, there are tones of different things you can really do with his coverart. Im not sure which my OFFICIAL favorite is (Its either the TimeToKill/ZeroHour or DN3D one.) :cool:

I think DNF box cover art sould be an extreme closeup of part duke's face all gritty and showing his age. While his glasses are beautifully rendered and reflective to show some contrast.

One of the best covers I have seen in recent history is the Too Human cover along with th Prey cover. The worst? The Orange Box art. I think box art should be simple and to the point but at the same time a bit mysterious.

the artwork for Duke 3d was godlike. I think they should use the same theme again for DNF as they used in Duke3d. They wouldnt be able to top Duke3d so rehash the hero ontop of dead aliens or ejected casings kicking ass while a nuke is going off in a city in the background.

You can't deny that the Duke 3D box art is totally badass.

I think there are two possibilities for Duke boxart that really shine. Something simplistic yet very clean and powerful looking. (A bumped radiation logo on the front with "DUKE NUKEM FOREVER" acrossed the top). Or the more common "badass pose" of the Duke3D/ZH/TTK boxarts.

I think something basically akin to a "sequel" to Duke3D's boxart is in order. IE: Duke firing with his left hand off screen while he shoves an American flag on a pole through a Shotup Pigcops snout laying on the ground, all the while grinning with that classic, Duke glee. Maybe a chick holding onto Dukes leg opposite of the pig. That'd be a badass continuiation of the classic box art.

I don't think a "clean" or minimalistic box art, like Prey's or the limited edition of Halo 3, would fit for DNF. I don't think it fits with the mood of the previous Duke games, or the mood I believe DNF will have.

No. NO. This is dull and wrong. The only valid cover art has Duke standing on a mountain of slain enemies while holding an enormous weapon in each hand. Optionally: a scantly clad woman clinging to his leg.
