Make sure you have all the build utilities installed in the same directory as your Duke3d game, make sure all the files are not 'read-only', and make sure to extract the tilesXXX.art from the Duke3d.grp file (open a DOS shell, get to your Duke3d directory, then type: kextract duke3d.grp *.art). And when you use editart and hit 'V' to view thru the tiles...

editart guide (http://dukertcm.totalconversions.com/knowledge-base/documents-online/art-editart-guide.html)

To get editart to run properly, the following files need to be in the same directory:

Editart.exe
Palette.dat
Tables.dat
all tilesXXX.art files
Names.h (not necessary, but helpful; shows tile names in build and editart)

It is recommended that you place these files in your duke3d directory so you will have access to them in build.

These files are located in the goodies\build directory on the Duke3d cdrom, except for tilesXXX.art files. Art files may be extracted (as can the *.dat files) from the Duke3d.grp file using the kextract.exe program (also located in the goodies\build directory on your cd). To extract the files, make sure the kextract program is in the Duke3d directory. At the command prompt, type kextract duke3d.grp *.art [for all art files; for all the dat files, type *.dat instead of *.art].

If you have copied files off of the cd, it is probable that they are marked as read-only. You must remove the read-only attribute from the files or they will not work correctly. In windows, right click on the file, select properties, then uncheck the read-only box. Click apply, then click OK.

Depends what you mean by 'not working' - as that could mean it's not working at all, as in the program fails to execute - or it's not working as you expect.

Not sure, but it's possible your Editart is bad?

I have the Plutonium Pak and that editart does not work properly.

I use the editart from Shadow Warrior.
