Spit, Blood (which I'ved finsihed but cant seem to get it to work) laser lights (may just use boxes though with traparent maps), birds (Same thing here too maybe) and maybe a few more I just cant think of right now. The spit is a must though

Shoulder width to hip ratio of a man and women has been around a long time.
There are fashion models whose hips are almost as slender as their shoulders, but these arms look more like they are out of their sockets than attached to broad shoulders (ugh, no pun intended)
Perhaps a Monty Python/Terry Gillian animation look was what you intended?

um, you know in real boxing matches there aren't chicks with signs. Just a bell. Also how will managers and coaches work (since they always come in and give pointers) or will you just exclude them?

? I haven't shown everything yet dude. The bodies wont have marks since in alot of games you dont see it cause its not important. And yes there are women with cards. It's been around for decades with starts like Ali ect.

Why am I interested in this TC?
Not as a boxing game where you punch out Mr T or the president but as a Raging Bull/Rocky type but behind the scenes boxing themed game.
IMHO, the actual matches with crowds going nuts will need to be cinematics, but a boxer brawling his way through locker rooms, alleys and bars would be a sweet change from shooting midgets or retard kung fu *G*

The level isn't done dudes. In fact its just a test level and I'll just scrap this one and make a new on. I am not bad at mapping, I just want a mapper so I can focus on the system which is important than a nice level.
Why did you release the screen if it's unfinished and you will eventually scrap what you're showing us anyway?
I really don't understand that and alot of people do it. Start releasing pics when the mod is around 80% complete.

but I wouldn't say the most importing thing here is levels or models. Its replacing the animations. That'd be the central part. Make animations and at the apex of each punch animation u can use a small explosion radius for damage. the levels would be pretty basic wouldn't they. But hey, have fun making the mod okay...I know that you know your way around 3dmax so I hope u make some nice boxing anims.

I got it so that theres a sideways angle for the cam now but when the player goes north it is far behind then starts to follow at bout 10 feet behind. Can you have the cam follow the player at a certian disctance?

Is it possible to afflict physical dmg to the face just like the actual fight night 2004 game for ps2? I mean say you jab someone in the face 30 times...will you eventually see a bruise starting to form in this mod?

Looks good, but... for the God's sakes drop the amount of particles in that effect! You can make it look just as good with... let's say... half of that current amount. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Typical explosions use 100-250 particles; running that on loop can and will slow down just about anyone's game.
Laser Set 4
Same applies to this. Plus that that doesn't really look like laser... At least halve the bitmaps, decrease the particles' lifetime and stretch them more.
Blood 2
I think it could be a bit more opaque and live for a little longer.
Entrance Smoke 3

The flame? It looks a bit edgy, otherwise it's pretty nice.
By the way, did you adjust the size of the preview window at all when you captured that video? Because if I try to Fraps it, the video goes all distorted. Perhaps "wrong" dimensions...

The lasers will be used for some other things as well. I will have of coruse classic laser lights of green ect going left to right ect ect.
The amount per efffect I thought would be ok cause I once awhile back ago found out that MP2 is great on running on crap PC's even with a explosion with 500 particals on it. So I figured that now days anyone has a at least decent PC that can handle so gfx. Maybe not.
The sparks I plan on getting better. I made this image 30 min ago...

Yeah, but I saw in the video that the FPS dropped horribly. If you combine that with the game, it can't be that good. Particle effects are only eye candy, but you don't just make them look good, optimizations are the most important thing, you got to make sure it runs on every player's computer.
For example, remember the Troat of Doom from Polar payne? I'm sure that overcool explosion could have been optimized better.
And I'm positive that flare picture is not made with ParticleFX, right?

No never had a problem with it. I know my PC can handle it since the machine I made them on is 3x better than Alienwares top of the line. Mainly cause I use it for work ect ect. Than again not everyone has that but still like I said MP2 is VERY good on FPS even with low specs
No that image is like I said the image for the updated one. But I know how to make PFX look like the images do to some tricks I learned instead of sorta looking like them but you can't see the detail do to too many layers of the effect.
By the way Jo I made a dove effect (when doves fly away) but I want them to goto left to right. How do you do that?

Make them emit from from a rectangular thin box which you place on the left. Then just use the Direction Graph...

The thing about optimisation in Max Payne 2 is the reason that it's so good is a combination of the engine and the mapping. Sure, you can play through all of the official Max Payne 2 missions w/o any slowdown and details bumped way up, but that is really due to a combination of a good engine and bloody good mapping.
You'll notice, if you play some of the other mods that are floating around, that you can easily get slowdown in certain circumstances. Large open spaces (Plaza Raid), many AI controlled characters around at a time (Plaza Raid, Free to Kill, Final Fight) and poor exit optimisation (Free to Kill, several others) can all give you FPS problems.
Of course, the other thing to consider is the fact that not everyone has systems as powerful as yours, and if you plan on releasing your mod to the public, you'll want to find a balance between quality and performance in terms of visuals, or be prepared for people to be very disappointed (Hellsing mod).

I know about that dude. I've been modding for a long time. It's just better when things are better detailed. People dont mind when they get low fps in retail games like DOOM 3 (which in MOI dindt have great graphics like they say). fair 'nuff, I can see where you're coming from but, for me, given that gameplay is spot on, I'd rather have things run smoothly than have crazy effects and other purely graphical things going on... I guess that's mostly 'cos I haven't got a super new crazy top of the line computer.

If Akari hasn't replied to this thread by now..it's definitely dropped. Akari dabbles in multiple things, so never has finished a proposed project. Not a diss to Akari, always has been helpful/talented....but that's just how it is for some.

I dont know the name of the dev team I am modeling for. The person that I know gets me the details I give him the models and I get credit when it ships. Pub, no idea really since I never asked. So you don't know the name of the "company", what the game is called or even the publisher who's signed you guys on.
If I was working for a commercial game;
Number 1: I would want to get paid.. in which case you should of signed a contract/release form which would of detailed at least one of the above.
Number 2: I would want to know as much information about the product before I even started workin on it.
If you never signed a contract/release form then you are screwed, if you don't care about getting paid then no problems but that's stupid especially as you said it might get "international release".

Companies usually don't make you sign an NDA to stop him from saying the company or publisher's name.
Also if Akari did sign an NDA he would of said that in the first place.
Anyway I'm sure everyone has gathered not to believe anything Akari says.

ya, as Joonas said, u were not here back in the days of Max Payne (1).
My poem here sums up his exploits:
Along time ago, in a forum not far from here, in fact it was called Max Payne Modding, a little dude named Akari began to appear.
He started to post and the flaming agrew
As he posted news to mods a few
Mods he ah-started
The communitiy got quite fainthearted
He said he had done it
His mods would be the center hit
However,
They all were quite lacking
And he got sent packing
Grand promises he did make
But it was all a mistake
As he posted no screenshots
And we despised him lots
Now his name has gone down in history
It is now not a mystery
Thanks to this amazing tale
That will hopefully prevail
That is the story of Akari, it is a summary of his dubious legacy, I hope it clears some things up plus its an awsome poem
