I once lost all my characters because I played WoW for two years straight and never logged in to b.net, but then I just started playing again and got myself a bunch of hi-lvl chars with a bunch of great gear. They were transfered to NL now, but I just started some new chars on ladder and there we go again...

I like the bnet even if it kills your chars after three months of no playing. It feels a lot more challenging then SP. Getting good gear really is an achievement online.

I don't really care for online play.. for me it's the exact opposite, getting good gear online is FAR too easy. While getting through the game with good gear in SP is where the real challenge is at. Mainly because you can't just wait for one of your friends to log in and help you out. You don't get rushed and you can't trade for gear. And most importantly no ones gonna save your @ss in a fight. Except for a few times when I forget to set the game, I always play on player 8 difficulty. And killing Durial, the ancients, and Baal's minions in hell can be VERY difficult if you got an incomplete character or without a tank. Not to mention that you can't use Atma online. I'm tired of making character mules and transferring crap online. Or having items stolen because I couldn't wait for a friend to log in and xfering in an open game. I admit theirs definitely something compelling about playing online with other people. But after years and years of playing. The only thing that has any hold on me online is dueling.

Yeah, I'm short on time to play as well... I'm currently entering Travincal. My Paladin is doing well. My gear is a total crap, but I'm hoping to pick better equipement in Act 5 and later on Nightmare. Playing on Hardcore.

Talos, it doesn't really delete your chars after 3 months. They just get marked as 'expired' which means that admins can delete them when they run out of space (which never happens actually). Of course, it's not worth a gamble. You just need to hop in, click on a char to enter a game for a second, leave, repeat. Takes a minute. People should be able to afford one minute in three months.

You're making me jealous with your Diablo 2 talk since I can't play it at the moment :p So how is the game balance now with the latest patches? It's been a while for me....

I'm in Nihlathaks Temple. I got a chance to pump my resistances a bit (fire and cold maxed, lightning close to maxed). Everything's going well, but my gear could have been much better. I need to get my hands on a nice weapon with high Life Stealing (my previous HardCore Paladin had around 30% Life Leech in Act 5 Normal, now I've got just about 5...).

I'm now on my way to act 3 normal. Damn I could beat this game in one sitting back in the days when I went to school. I don't have that much time anymore :(

Level 54 paladin is all I have got and lost them all because of the character time limit :/
