I was a Marvel comics kid growing up, so I don't own a lot of Batman comics/graphic novels, but I've read a lot of the Batman history on the internet. I've never gotten my hands on a copy of "The Killing Joke" but I do have an old copy of "A Death In the Family." Jesus, that series of panels of the Joker just beating the shit out of Robin with a crowbar....very disturbing. He enjoys it so much!

Edit: I'd also like to say the Batman cartoon series that started in the very early 1990's is the best comic book cartoon series ever. Characters smoked, beat the crap out of each other, shot people....it was pretty gritty. And Mark Hamill: best Joker ever!!

Anyone else here think that "Batman and Robin" was actually a good movie? If you ask me, movie critics are almost always full of shit.

In the case of Batman & Robin the critics weren't full of shit. IMO the film was really really bad.
Maybe if you watch this film with a specific mindset, i.e. if you REALLY enjoyed the Adam West "Batman" show, or if you are really into camp, then yeah, maybe you can enjoy this movie. But as fan of the Dark Knight kinda Batman I could not enjoy this film at all. For me, other than being a Batman iteration I just didn't like the film was drowning in camp, and I'm not into that either.

Actually I got Batman Forever on DVD a few months ago since I remembered it to be not AS bad as B&R.
I was quickly disappointed to find out that it was bad enough not to watch it ever again. After that I didn't dare giving B&R another chance, not even after 11 years of avoiding it (it's a 1997 movie, isn't it?).

B&R was full of shit.

Anyone reading Batman R.I.P?

Not me. I really want to stay away from that one. I know it should be a good read, if just because it's written by Grant Morrison, but the premise sounds too much like a typicall DC "Death of...." stunt.

Now "Knightfall", that one was brilliant.

EDIT: the artwork you posted doesn't look bad at least. Looks very reminiscent of Hush.

I found a review of Batman: Gotham Knight from the Worlds Finest Online site (non-spoiler version included). This is kinda old news already, but some of you may not have seen this yet.

Also, there's a Gotham Knight sneak peek with interviews from the creators and then a small clip from one of the segments on YouTube.

I'm very pleased to find out that Kevin Conroy (Batman TAS) is once again lending his voice to the dark knight. Contrary to previous beliefs the cast of The Dark Knight film is not doing the voices in B:GK.
