There was no genocide. Apparently you're unaware of what the term means. If anything the destruction of Native American cultures was a serie of isolated incidents spanning hundreds of years. Some incidents were caused by American Indians, some by white men. Smallpox was not deliberately introduced - it didn't have to be. Its introduction was a tragic accident. (I don't deny that there may have been isolated incidents where smallpox was used as a weapon.)

Native Americans were given, at least in North America, a fair change to assimilate. A civilized country won't allow pockets of tribes to live according to primitive laws just as modern day Europe shouldn't allow Muslims to set up Sharia courts in France, the UK and so on.

I really don't see how Communism, Nazism or some collectivist religion (Christianity, Islam etc.) is collectivist just in name. The Soviet Union, the Third Reich or the Holy Roman Empire, just to mention a few, were all governed by laws that didn't recognize individual rights as primary. They were barbaric, anti-Western systems of government just as any African or American tribe that still hangs on to the mentality that the rights of tribes, clans or families matter more than those of the individual. Sick, barbaric collectivist cultures allow killing family members if they bring shame to the family.

It's not "awfully optimistic". Groups and invidividuals in every culture have committed atrocities from time to time but at least the West has done something besides that: provided liberal democracy, the only humane culture. Besides, atrocities committed by white men have usually been in the name of some collective ideology (Nazism, Communism, Imperialism etc.) which are alien to western values of reason and individualism.

The Indian "genocide" was not perpetrated by the West. Indians caused their own cultural destruction by holding on to their primitive, collectivist practices by waging war on white men. Allowing a stone age culture to live in the middle of what was to become a civilized nation was rightly out of the question. Innocent Indian women and children died only because their leaders insisted that the individual must be sacrificed for the collective instead of giving in to a much better culture.

I don't oppose American militarism. Without it non-Western cultures would have the upper hand. Environmental destruction is frequent in developing countries, not in developed ones. Only the western economic model allows people to be rich and healthy at the same time while also protecting the environment.

I don't see how it could be either ironic or disgusting.

Probably, given the Wii's serious lack of space. Although it will be mostly for my brother to play. I've never been huge on Megaman. Feel like I play one I've played them all.
