Windows Update and end of life
This is probably a dumb question, but here goes: I know Microsoft will eventually end support of its products after a period of time. Does this merely mean that I will get no new updates, or will all updates for an unsupported product become unavailable?
For example, if I do a fresh install of Windows Server 2000 (for which support ended last June), will Windows Update not work at all, or can I still get updates up until the last available one? |
Re: Windows Update and end of life
Yeah, you can still get the old updates. It just means they're not making any new ones.

If you do a fresh install of Windows Server 2000, you might have to download the Service packs manually. (The Service Packs will contain all the cumulative updates).
I think the Windows Update service has been changed a couple of times over the years, so the original update service might not be able to download updates automatically. |
Re: Windows Update and end of life
Windows Update for Windows 95 is still online.

Hmm..if they have any from the old Windows 3.1 days, which would be a joke, then I'd be all for that. Hehe... :D Bah, who am I kidding?

I downloaded MS-DOS 6.22 from the Microsoft educators site (Elms)
