Blood TC for EDuke32
 
The help is necessary to me!!! I wish to make by own strength Blood TC for EDuke32. Who can and wants, help me to make an exact copy of all weapons from Blood by means of Con-scripts and all interface (the menu, etc.) with all textures and resources I can provide, if it will be necessary

Can be not absolutely clear I am expressed since I from Russia =) And I simply wish to alter Duke3d that it has been as much as possible approached to atmosphere Blood

I bet that you won't find any coder who would put that huge amount of work for something totally not creative.

I already have found some coders. Especially I ask that somebody on has made on one weapon. Somebody, make to me even Pitchfork :)

It is correct, but game on a network will be better to work on port, than through the emulator =)

I got the game Blood from my cousin (the same guy who borrowed me his copy of Duke Nukem) and it's awesome, the bright blood is way too cool to be deleted!

Erm, guys, there is a Quake Source Port version out there. It uses the Dark Places engine which is just a few notches down from the Doom III engine.

Not meaning to put BUILD down, but aren't you guys barking up the wrong tree?

Surely that depends entirely on what look you're going for? I wouldn't know, but perhaps they're going for an unreal feel (not the game). If so, balls to realism. Balls, I say! No one should be afraid to take things to the surreal if ever they want to.

Hmmmm, (Rubs chin thoughtfully in an exaggerated stage manner) spend lots of time developing models and textures for a BUILD port with only the most basic 3D support or spend lots of time developing models and textures for an engine that features normal maps and dynamic lighting?

Transfusion has done absolute shit since it was announced as qBlood. They've only released crippled MP versions.

I say anyone who wants to make a true port of Blood, my hat is off to you.

I agree with Hud.

I loved Transfusions original idea, but they've since stalled. Releasing a "functioning" multiplayer portion... but nothing for single player. And honestly, Blood in it's original build 2D goodness looks better than transfusion.

So... I would prefer a port like what M210 is doing.

Monolith has already given permission to everyone to use all the art, sound, and other assets from Blood.

I've talked with them about this on numerous occasions.

Also, who is "them"?

and finally, why waste your time re-implementing blood on a different codebase of build for 'the multiplayer' when you can just play it through dosbox's ipxnet udp emulation? It's like everyone wants to stamp their name on Blood or so and be the king of Blood. I really find that stupid.

So 'they' really said that they don't mind if anyone ripps off the content from their games? Did 'they' release the content under GPL or just announced it or something? Because.... That's pretty big news and the whole of BLOOD community didn't hear about it. I just heard about it from you.

P.S. Didn't you guys know that they have given permission to everyone to use all the art, sound, and other assets from Duke3D? Yeah. It's true my man, I got some serious connections. :rolleyes: It's funny how hursh the staff gets when someone mentions their IP on the forums, but noone cares to protect the IP of other companies.

even if the new owners of monolith have lost the source code....

i believe that some programmers of blood have a private copy of that code ;) maybe not digitally, but as print out :)

I think that using the Build engine for this is silly. If you have the rights to the assets, and you are going to re-make models for sprites, then use the best engine that you can get your hands on. Otherwise, you are porting the game to the same platform.
