Static meshes in unrealed 2.0

Hi guys. How do I put static meshes in unreal editor 2.0 since it doesn't have a static mesh browser? Any help would be appreciated.

I think static meshes were only supported since Unreal 2/Unreal Tournament 2003.

If this is the case then how do I put things like chairs and tables into my levels?

using the geometry to build them. . .
a few cubes with the right texture and you have a chair or table.

Are you sure? I remember using a program to convert geometry into static meshes, and I'm sure I used it with Unreal 1 because that's the only Unreal engine game I mapped for. I remember I used that program to create a computer screen model out of geometry, which I could push around the map while running the game.

Unreal 1 does not have static meshes. What you converted it to was a regular animated mesh just with no animation. The key differences from a mapping point of view in unreal is.

1. Static meshes can't animate.

2. static meshes has per polygon hit detection while you are left width just a collision cylinder width animated meshes.

3. static meshes gets lit during the build process just like brushes(ie they can receive shadows).

I did start with "I think..." hence, no, I wasn't entirely sure :p
