Yes, it is really nice to finally show something about the game. Hope to impress you guys in the future, as well...

www.alanwake.com is the site. Congratulations to the smart guy who found out about it first (can't remember who it was, but it was on the 3DRForums), by the way. And by 'it' I mean the name of our game.

There is bound to be more mirrors in the near future.

Re: Alan Wake - Remedy\'s New Game

Torrents are great if you think that a video will be overly popular. Everyone would be getting it at good speeds while saving the host site bandwidth. Although in the begining of a release it's always slow. Doesn't help when people close it after it's finished either. I'm hitting over 70k/sec download right now.

if you are reffering to MP2 you are most definitely mistaken, it was made for PC from beginning to the end and ported to consoles later by a different team.

It was just a teaser, basically it showed the main character and some of the environments. It has some great looking water effects and lighting.

Judging from the teaser it looks like another 3rd Person game.

Look at that lighting. It's better than (Doom3-LightingxHL2-Lighting).

http://www.alanwake.com/screenshots/Alan_Wake_002.jpg

Take a look at that picture. And even better than that, that lighting is dynamic.
It certainly looks better than anything I've seen from UE3.

Aye, I left it running a couple hours, served some 700Mb (~80kb upload).

You'll specially like this coz it does seem to have that perfect balance of bloom-usage. Not more, not less ........ just perfect. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthread...mlins/wink.gif

Its extremely creative.

BTW is it just me or Alan looks a bit *cough* finnish. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthread...emlins/hhg.gif
Maybe thats coz you people took finnish people as references. Oh well its a Remedy-published game alright. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthread...mlins/cool.gif

And yet another couple of years added to DNF's development saga...

Great looking shots and the first time I've seen bloom applied with a little more subtlety than that of a jackhammer.
I really like the atmosphere you've created in the teaser, shows that you can 'do' moody in daylight.

Kristian Joensen 05-04-2005 12:37 PM

Re: Alan Wake - Remedy\'s New Game

This game has got absolutely nothing to do with DNF.

Re: Alan Wake - Remedy\'s New Game

1) Nice to see a legal use of bittorent
2) The Small trailer was huge in dimention, is the large one "built for fulscreen" or longer? (small = 0:31)

Sayantan 05-04-2005 12:39 PM

Re: Alan Wake - Remedy\'s New Game

Yeah. Its not a 3drealms game anymore. Its been published by Remedy themselves.

Kristian Joensen 05-04-2005 12:40 PM

Re: Alan Wake - Remedy\'s New Game

No its been published by Take Two and Max Payne wasn't published by 3D Realms.

X-Vector 05-04-2005 12:48 PM

Re: Alan Wake - Remedy\'s New Game

I know that and it's not the point; it was simply a little jab inspired by how good Alan Wake looks (judging from the screenshots and teaser).
As in, 3DR will now yet again be forced to change/upgrade engine tech to keep up and start from scratch once more.
I thought the rather unserious intent was clear, but apparantly wit is in short supply in fanboy land.

Anyway, George, can you get HH to switch Prey over to the AW engine as well - pretty please?

X-Vector 05-04-2005 12:52 PM

Re: Alan Wake - Remedy\'s New Game

The 18MB trailer is in 1280x720 res, but the same length.

It's a teaser after all.

Kristian Joensen 05-04-2005 12:52 PM

Re: Alan Wake - Remedy\'s New Game

No they will not have too change tech again.

If you hate 3DR then why are you here ?

Re: Alan Wake - Remedy\'s New Game

wow this looks great http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthread...emlins/eek.gif I can't believe it. First Prey, then Serious Sam 2, Quake 4 and now this. All we need now is a splash of Duke and we got ourselves a cocktail! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthread...mlins/cool.gif

BioHazard 05-04-2005 01:10 PM

Re: Alan Wake - Remedy\'s New Game

Yep, looks awesome, though the trailer shows nothing of the gameplay which is a little dissapointing. Guess we'll have to wait till E3.

Nope, I'm talking about the standard console games ported to PC (not GTA) with no innovative gameplay, small maps and loading screens between level sections.
Anyway, I don't think MP2 was a stellar game (sorry Remedy). Just a MP1 with improved graphics + a girl.

It's always been known that Remedy's new game will be an original title. Remedy doesn't own the rights to Max Payne anymore.. MP3 is being made by Rockstar.

So you think MP1 was not a stellar game?
Well 1 thing you are doing wrong is that comparing MP2 to MP1 only. Ever tried to compare the gameplay of MP2 to some other budget-busting games like D3 and HL2? I can surelly tell you that the shooting fun in MP2 was a lot more than that of those "big budget" games.
