It turns out that SoftMaker Office 2008 and Ashampoo Office 2008 are pretty much identical except the latter does not include BasicMaker (hence the package is somewhat smaller in size), but has got all the additional dictionaries which must be downloaded separately in the case of SMOffice.

Also, the license keys in both free editions are, as expected, interchangeable.
