Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project Forum Removed
As this attention for this title has cooled off considerably, I've removed the forum for it. However, all the posts that were in there are not lost.

As of this morning, there were 871 threads and 5,449 total posts in that forum. They've all been moved into here. To help identify these moved posts, I've appended the subject of all of them with [DNMP] at the front.

Going forward, I expect new posts will be indentified better. However, these old ones from a forum where there was only one game as the subject needed proper identification so people looking up old posts (yeah, like THAT ever happens) will know which game it's supposed to be about.

Thanks for saving the posts, Joe. But it is time to retire the forum.

Actually, I checked the DNMP forum everyday, and I still reference old posts looking for some editing helps, but not very often now. And I doodle with the editor from time to time just for fun.

If you had the posts bookmarked, your old bookmarks might not work anymore, since technically these are copies of the original posts, and would be assigned new post numbers.

The original msgs were deleted when I nuked the forum.

Right!

I never did bookmark. I would just enjoy perusing the old, old posts and doing searches. No real loss, though. Mostly nostalgia, or looking for inspiration for a new level idea to play with.

Well I must ask this since I am currently playing DNMP again:

Are there any user-made levels (or even episodes) available at all for that game (except for the GLOPP Canyon and the Cavemaze by RG I know of)? I'd really like to see more!

Not as yet, NightFright, but Prowler and I are slugging along with some maps we hope to make available some day.

Wish us luck, and a lot more extra time.

I really hope you get something like a complete episode (3 large levels like in original) done at least. Itīs a cool game IMHO, and I cannot quite understand why activity for MP is running so low (or even non-existant).

@ MagNet:
I had sold my copy of DNMP long time ago, but earlier this month, I somehow felt like playing it again. Searching through different stores, I found the low budget CD jewel case version by Ubisoft for 3.95 Euro (thatīs roughly 4.80 USD). Not too expensive, I might say.

Re: Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project Forum Removed
Activity for DNMP ran low because we haven't been able to supply more maps and episodes to keep the interest going. AFAIK, there are only two part-time mappers now and we don't have a lot of time to devote to it.

Also, the fact that the editor is difficult to learn and use has kept a lot of would-be mappers from using it.

For the time being, we are still working on maps, but the outlook is still the familiar WID or, better, IIGD (If It Gets Done). STS

Never. The rights to it are held up by a law firm who snapped up everything the company had at the time in bankruptcy court.

It's why we can't release it as freeware or re-sell it. I thought I already explained that.

They didn't - at least not directly. They were bought out by a larger company, and THAT company went bankrupt. Took Arush with 'em. The rights to Manhattan Project were with the larger company.

The game's rights (along with everything else from the larger company) are in limbo because they're held by some holding company as part of the bankruptcy (sp?) proceedings. I forget all the details at the moment, but that's close to the way it went.

Scott's inquired about retrieving the rights to Manhattan Project, but was rebuffed - the holding company isn't interested in dealing with us.

Well that just plain sucks balls. If it weren't for Apogee then Duke wouldn't exist, and yet they want nothing to do with you? Its kind of sad considering how great Manhatten project is. It had such a short lifetime too.

I can't say I'm totally surprised. In the grand scheme of what the bankruptcy company has to deal with, the rights of a dead project doesn't much matter to them.

Sucks - yeah, but I can understand why they said that.

I just can't understand the mindset of those who sit on rights and never do anything with them but let dust grow. Its the same reason VUgames pisses me off......I can understand the idea of 'potential' sequels and future rereleases, but if you have nothing at all planned then let the fricking rights go to those who will.

Whats worse is they could probably make money by selling it to you guys, and being hit with a bankruptcy you'd think that would be worthwhile.

Re: Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project Forum Removed
Any chance that this game will be released on Xbox 360 Live Arcade? It seems perfect for it.

I'd totally buy it to play on my 360.

Given what is on the live arcade now (not much). This would be a pretty simple port that would sell like hotcakes FTW!
