It's uncanny to read a forum post and it's so dead on that you think it's an employee account or a leak. It's really hard to keep track of all the ideas as we get tons of them internally, or just reading the net (ideas suggested for all games), or from movies, or whatever.

Multi-core support is in and quite nice. We all run Core Duo 6600's and 7950/8800, ati 1900 level cards.

Multi-core is the future and the game is pretty much going to require it. You really have to, to make a game competitive with modern consoles, or beyond. One cpu isn't enough anymore.

64 bit will come, but is lower priorty. Vista/64 bit isn't a priority for us at the moment.

Finally some sort of info about system specs! Hey George, while you're at it, would you mind answering:

1) How these setups (E6600 [Stock Clock I'm assuming] + 8800[GTS I'm assuming]) run the game currently? Maxed, good framerate?

2) What is the likelihood of system specs becoming steeper than this for release?

Absolutely correct. They're simply behind. I was actually surprised the last issue of PC Gamer didn't have the screenshot from the job posting.

I realize all the "lead time" for magazines but they had plenty of time to get that shot in the last magazine imo.

All this will be is a rehash of the screenshot and Scott's interview on that podcast about the time window he estimated DNF would hit(with him saying he didn't forsee it going to 2009).

Nothing to see here folks, move along.

And if I can just add one thing. I would think it'd be an awesome gesture to debut any new media kick off by exclusively posting it here in the Duke Nukem Forever forum for us first. I'm sure the site would get hammered but to even debut the new stuff here 5 minutes before anyone else would be cool for the fans here.

Well, if we remember the old camera captioning contest, there was a picture of a 3dr developer with a lady being motioncapped who appeared to be giving him a lap dance. So I'd venture we'll get a more "up close and personal"experience.

George has always championed video over screenshots anyways so we know 3drealms would prefer to show the game off in motion. I also think George does struggle with showing the game off on a daily basis. I mean, you have rabid fans such as myself nipping at his heels for morsels, the media outlets like gaming sites and magazines calling 3drealms weekly(if not daily) for updates, the critics who think it's vaporware...I give him alot of credit for him not just coming out and releasing 10 shots and saying "I told you so".

As for this year factor in Scott has said they'll most likely go with the 10-12 month time frame before release for the eventual media buildup. Scott also mentioned that he didn't foresee the game slipping into 2009. So do the math. It's April 2007. 10-12 months out we'll get media. 2009 appears to not be in 3drealm's equation at this point so that leaves us with sometime in 2008.

Now, let's factor in when a very large demographic will be free of obligations(for the most part) which would be school students ie high school, college, etc. When does that take place? Generally in June which pretty much kicks off the summer gaming months. While retailers certainly look forward to the Xmas shopping season, the summer months May, June, July, August are prime launch months for big game releases. They launched Prey last summer.

My opinion? 3drealms is eyeing this July for the unveiling and may very well launch the game next July. Otherwise, I foresee them launching in 4th quarter of 2008 sometime between September and December.

Not too surprising as about everything has been talked about regarding the game. I mean, it's pretty much impossible to come up with an original thread/discussion topic in the DNF forum.

Sounds like it'll be a monster to run and will most likely require more horse power than Crysis. With the photographic realism of the game, we should expect steep system specs. Still, I was planning on upgrading for Crysis anyways to at least an 8800 card so I'll just go all the way now and pick up a dual core processor ie: new computer.

I think the days of 1 gig to run games is coming to an end fast imo. Battlefield 2 is a memory hog and chugs at times with 1 gig.

2 gig and up for these games makes sense.
