after watching this DAMN sequence again (they shouldnt have released it, now i cannot wait even more !) that besides the low quality of the video, the chaingun sound wasnt fitting, i prefer a modern sound from duke3d. it was a blast !

I like the Nuke crosshair. I use the nuke symbol a lot when I can since I'm an x-ray tech and it's something we natural post around

Got one on my sub box in fact in my car hehe.

Anyway I can't wait for new (or the game itself) stuff....stay tuned eh?

gamespot have been taking the piss out of DNF for ages now, i think they're just pissed because they have no patience and haven't got the game they've wanted for so long. tossers.

Jeff Gerstman was fired from gamespot because of a low scored review of Kane and Lynch, and Eidos (who made the game) had advertisements on gamespot, then had them pulled after the review which made gamespot lose money, thus terminating Gerstman.

So, if you pay, you get good scores.

Well that won't be the case for Duke Nukem Forever, 3DR will acheive great success for sure with DNF I highly suspect it. Thus there won't be any incidents like that for DNF hopefully not, and if there Is I hope the stupid game reviewers get fired for it or whatever...

Ummmm.

So can anyone just convert this to a format that actually plays? :P I've got Fraps installed, I've got Quicktime, latest version of Windows Media Player, I even tried running it in Winamp. Seems unreasonable to convert a file to MP4 when 99% of all media players don't play this extension...

Oh well, guess I'll see if the gameplay video made its way to Youtube. :P

That rumour seems to have become fact amongst journo's. 1UP and IGN have also spoke about Duke using the Doom3 engine.

I wonder if weapon models have changed since then? They probably have.

The only weapon that looked "off" was the ripper cannon which looked too much like one of the guns from Quake 3.

The Doom 3 engine crap is pretty stupid, the level shown in this video is similar in look to a Doom 3 level. I bet the outside levels will be alot cooler than the close combat inside stuff.

Pretty amazing seeing as Duke 3D was released in May 1996 and the Plutonium Pak/Atomic Edition was late 1996, then Shadow Warrior was late 1997.

Ok, so here are my thoughts:

I think we're all going to be extremelly impressed when the trailer comes out, George knows this.

We all still see the 2001 trailer as being the best game ever in the existence of the universe and it didn't even have that much interactivity in it, go figure.

What we saw from the game in it's actual form are just the tip of the iceberg, when we actually see a proper trailer with action sequences, some interactivity, some dialog etc, I think no one will be able to see if the graphics are "bland,uncolorful,dated,etc" because we will see Duke in it's purest form, the way it was meant to be, we will see the GAMEPLAY other than just combat scenes or tiny screenshots.

The 2001 version is dated as hell, but I still would like to play that game over any other current game available. I'm sure, 2008 DNF will be that, and more....Why? simple:

1)It's Duke Nukem.
2) I don't care about the graphics, because the gameplay will sell, in it's current form the graphics are able to deliver perfectly. We haven't seen all the sunny levels or casinos people.
3)There's just NO POSSIBLE WAY that the game could turn out to be LESS interactive, just MORE.
4) There's no way 3DR couldn't have gathered a small amount of Culture/pop references in over 12 years, I do hope 3DR has done it's homework and filled DNF with them.
5)They listen to the fans, wether some people like to admit it or not, stuff get changed with time as the people give constructive criticism, etc. I think 3DR has shown the most importan stuff that would need to be changed, like Duke's appearance, some consolitis here and there (heh

) And I think that everything else is just fine, the game CAN be showed in it's final state on a trailer I think.
6) It's Duke F*ucking Nukem.

BUT...

I hope this is the end of the video-of-computer-monitor snippets, the postage size screenshots, the vague eyewitness reports, the quick-cutting teasers, and the overall coyness. Really show it or do not show it, please.

EDIT: I'm just referring to these random, aimless DNF sightings. Teasing as part of the Official Marketing/PR Ramp-up is fine, of course.

Glad to hear the ego stuff is actually developer temp stuff. Looked like hit points out of an rpg and breaks immersion imo.

You know, I was listening to Jace Hall on the 1up podcast just now, and despite the fact that it was, again, yet another person saying "I've seen it, it's real", there's so much emphasis placed by Hall on the fact that what we're getting with DNF is special, unique, and ultimately Duke without any doubt. It's funny, because when I saw the footage -- and probably a lot of people may feel the same -- there was very little reaction there from me. I knew it was real, and I know it's an FPS, and I know theirs pigcops and a worm, and, additionally, a forklift.

But nobody has really commented on the most important aspect of DNF up until now; a player, someone who loves Duke as much if not more than many people here, has finally actually said, essentially, that what we're getting is exactly what we're waiting for. I think, for me, that's enough to hold me until DNF is ready to show up again. It's great to see that much energy coming from someone who's in the same situation we're in (minus having played Duke of course), letting us know that the game isn't just another FPS, but a game that's going to bring us back to Duke and yet forward in many other ways.

I recommend people listen to that podcast if they haven't already. Pretty great stuff, and Jace sounds like a pretty awesome guy.

Yeah, that nuke was pretty sweet.

Regarding the Devastator it should have a cool off just like the one in DN3D, but this is old footage and perhaps it's been fixed already.

With regards to the weapons, I'd like to think that we're getting some surprises too, rather than just a rehash of all the old arsenal. If we were just seeing the same thing over in that department, I'd be a little disappointed.
