Wii Wi-Fi question
If you have a Wii, and you leave your Wifi on all the time, you may not know the thing connects a lot. Look at this excerpt from my router's log. I have it set to email me when certain things happen. One of which is the log being full. As I don't want to blast my Wii's mac address over the net, I've replaced the address in the log file with "Wii's Mac Code here"...

It just goes on and on and on...

90% of the entries in my router log are the Wii. Does anyone know if it's possible to reduce the frequency at which the Wii will connect and look for messages and the like? I rarely get any, so I don't need to check multiple times an hour. I'd like to choose the frequency at which it checks. I don't really want to turn the Wii totally off, either as I do like being told when I do have something to look at.

I've not been able to find any information about this. Anyone else?

have you tried manually setting it up instead of using DHCP?

Yeah, I just leech off somebody's connection somewhere nearby in the building. So I'm no help either.

I cant even get it to connect to the router 3ft away from it [the Wii] anymore, it used to, then nothing changed and it decided to just stop. So I have to use the router way on the other side of the house and get a crap signal :\

No kidding? This is interesting to me. I have many router problems and now I wonder if the Wii and PS3 are culprits. Due to the heat I no longer leave my Wii on. It gets VERY hot even when it's not doing anything, so I didn't like that at all.

However the PS3 is on sleep mode and using a wifi locater you can see it still broadcasts it's access point. This makes me wonder if it's also sending too many signals to my router even though we aren't using it.

What I find odd is that only my Wii has ever connected wirelessly to the nearby router. The 360 has a wired connection to it, and I never tried it with my laptop but my father said he has used it before.

That's weird because the one I'm connecting to is either in the biker bar across the Alley or downstairs of my building which is still either way through a 10 feet or so and a few inches of Brick.

Now what the hell, of course my DS connects fine to this router, but the Wii just does not like it any more :\
