Dishonored

Official Site

You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is being besieged by plague and ruled by an oppressive government armed with neo-industrial technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you, abilities beyond those of any common man – but at what cost? The truth behind your betrayal is as murky as the waters surrounding the city, and the life you once had is gone forever.

Dishonored is a first-person assassination / stealth, sandboxy game in a steampunk, alternative history period, in development at Arkane Studios, set for a release sometime this year.

Bulletstorm's sequel has nothing to do with this.
Specially since EA and Epic killed any chances of it happening. The sequel to Bulletstorm wasn't killed because of "piracy" or "being a port"...
It was killed by Epic and EA delaying a PC demo until two months after the release date. By EA setting unreachable sales expectations for the PC version.

Even People Can Fly commented that EA set the sales goals for the PC version so high there was no way it could reach it. Even if it sold insanely well it wouldn't reach their goals.
Add in Epic's horrible marketing videos. Videos were a few people from Epic sat in front of the camera growling, cussing and making jokes about how much profanity was in the game.

Despite what people say, Bulletstorm was developed on PC and worked onto consoles. PCF had several "fights" with Epic over this as Epic wanted the 360 to be the lead platform.
The PC versions performance problems didn't come from being a port, they came from Epic not giving the game enough quality assurance testing and time.

And really, crying "console port... they don't care about PC" from a few screenshots. Seriously...

I'm not "trolling" you. Personally, based on how the majority of your posts are it's hard to discern outright negativity versus objective examples.

You commenting on a low FOV in regards to screenshots of Dishonored, then stating that low FOV means they don't care about the PC version... yeah, it's so improbable that I would make such a leap as to take it that you are saying Arkane don't care about PC.

Honestly, I'm more surprised you are taken it so personally as to get defensive about it as to cry "trolling" just because I'm debating an opinion with you.
Sorry. I won't debate, argue or discuss the finite points of a game's quality, PC status, ports or such details in the future.

Low FOV is the standard because of consoles, but low FOV doesn't mean that they don't care about PC. So they should be showing two different sets of screenshots each time?

Plus if it's idtech, then just use your PC Console(tm) and modify the FOV.

You could also stop playing modern games, stick to the old ones, and reminisce about the good old days like lots of people do.

Or you could make your voice heard and hope the developers listen, like what happened with The Darkness 2 and Gotham City Imposters. They both were released with low FOV, but after many complaints FOV sliders were added to both.

Arkane guys clearly want to show that they care about a PC version of Dishonored.

On UI you can enable/disable/modify options such as:

* Health / Mana Gauges
* Objective Popups
* Tutorial Notifications
* Interactions
* Focus Highlight
* Pickup Log
* Contextual Icons
* Player Stance
* Objective Markers
* Grenade Markers
* Awarness Markers
* Heart Markers
* Crosshair Style
* Crosshair Movement
* Crosshair Opacity

Some of the other options include:

* The FOV slider for changing your field of view.
* Controller and mouse sensitivity options, as well as four different options related to auto aim strength and aim assist.
* The mouse smoothing/acceleration slider and enable/disable options. (PC only).
* Graphics options for the full spectrum of monitor resolutions, anti-aliasing, and various other graphical toggles. (PC only).

Finally, PC version gets a classic shortcut bar for powers and gadgets.

Hell yeah. I don't see why more publishers just take a little more effort with there PC versions and add little things like FOV sliders, unique huds to the PC versions. It means there's less negative noise around release time and the PC ends up being the legacy version of most games anyway.

This is going to be a day one buy for me. Unique setting, beautiful art style, highly replayable levels and great abilities. Looks like it will be Arkane's best game yet.

I also see that the PS3 is going to also see a version of Doom 3 released for that in the BFG edition according to that website Nihilanth linked us to. Hmm... Although we've already played the PC version of the game, I'm kind of curious to see what the PS3 version of the game might have to offer... Hmm...

I know that was kind of off topic, but it got my attention. However, I'm sure to look into Dishonored as well, both should be quite excellent.

Hm, I don't remember reading too much about Borderlands 2. My point is, I feel like some great games never really get their due; there's some masterpieces out there that get bashed not for any real reason, but just because it's popular to hate them (Mass Effect 3).

I spent yesterday's evening on playing this. Let me say this, the more I play, the more I love it. A worthy spiritual successor to Thief series, that's for sure and any stealth game fan should try it out.

One of my favourite things is the movement. Watching the footage kind of made the game look a bit clunky but that's not the case at all. You really feel in control of your character and the movement is natural. Dishonored also destroys the trend of invisible walls. Save for some of the highest, steep rooftops, you can get pretty much everywhere. Levels are designed in a great DX-styled fashion, multiple entries and options.

Gameplay wise it almost feels like Deus Ex with character development, map design, side quests and side stories, just more focused on stealth.

Very good game so far.
