I'm familiar with SD_Duke and in fact a lot of stuff in DP was copied from that mod with permission.

Well, here is an example of what the gore looks like in Duke Plus:

It's a little different from the currently released version.

I'm sure it leaves room for improvement, but it's not at all helpful to say that the other gore is better without saying why. I want to make it better. DP is the mod included with the HRP now, so let's try to make it the best it can be.

Deeper Thought, do not get me wrong, I love both of your mods. They are both great deal of fun and I follow their development nearly every day, here on the forum. I am not saying that your gore style is inferior. What I am saying is that next to DUKE3D with EDUKE32 and the HRP with improved MUSIC, SD_DUKE is the only mod that I consider vital for my personal enjoyment of the game. Why? Because it is very compact (8 MB) and it provides exactly these effects that I love to see in this game: excessive gore and excellent blood splatter with great addition of jibs and special effects such as variety of shooting holes, wall marks and falling dust, that are really looking great in game - to me. The only visual drawback that I have with SD_DUKE is the representation of fire, which is far better done in DUKE PLUS. I really wish that Hellbound and Dr. Kill could return and continue to improve and complete SD_DUKE with the best visual effects, gathered in one small and compact zip file.

Hey Another Duke Fan didn't you forgot to put the sd_duke.grp in the zip file? Because he can't show the highres damage textures and such. Everything is like a green alien tile from Duke3d itself. I checked everything, but can't figure out what I am doing wrong. And then I remembered that there was a sd_duke.grp, if my mind is not wrong.

BTW, you should not put the SD_DUKE.GRP in the SD_DUKE.ZIP file. Put both files in your DUKE3D directory and play with batch as follows: EDUKE32.EXE /gDUKE3D_HRP.ZIP /gSD_DUKE.ZIP /gSD_DUKE.GRP

I wasn't trying to get you to say that you liked my mods (believe it or not, it's fine if you don't), I was trying to get some useful critical feedback. Earlier you actually did imply that the gore in DP is inferior, and I was just trying to find out what was supposed to be inferior about it. In some ways, I suspect that it is, but I'm not sure exactly what to change. By the way, DP does have those bullet decals and a lot of other stuff in a fairly compact package (13MB isn't bad when you consider it includes a lot of maps and other things).

I'm not sure what you mean. Most of the texturing problems when using EDuke32 are due to missing art files or a bad texture cache.

I the low or middle HRP quality, the mosnters have an 2D texture on them, but this prob isn't in full quality. I have to wait 15 minutes before download GRP, and I'll told you if this error is already in (After deleting again texture files in DP and HRP folders...).

I too wish they would finish the fire...I also miss the Duke3D smoke effect when you shoot stuff, rather than this over elaborate dust stuff.

I haven't used the latest version of DP, but I remember the brass models and pipe bomb shrapnel stay to be superior of the last DP I used.

But like I said, I need to try the newest version of DP.

SD_Duke don't bug, the few elements of body that run away are blanck, it's the only bug, not important.

I have heard a few people complain about little white sprites flying off of monsters when you shoot them, but I have never seen this myself and none of my closer associates have had the problem.

This strongly suggests that it is not a bug in the mod, but rather something that is getting f*cked up on some computers because of missing or outdated files, a video driver issue, or who knows what else.

The last version of SD_Duke is 1.2.4. Although DukePlus 1.99 has almost all of SD_Duke's effects, there some differences. For example there are differences in the blood effects, and a few others that already mentioned in previous posts.

I tried it out on hollywood hollocaust and the blood effects do seem slightly better (don't ask me why, I don't know) but its definitely something I can live without if I'm using DukePlus.

When was the last SD_Duke update released anyway?
