Hey, people, don't push them so much. Being so huge ass is very demotivating. Stop saying 'och, this project died', 'any news', 'it's over, och nooo'. That's not a proper help or support.

Ahá...and he's right.
Are you gonna lose your faith, or are you gonna wait for some neat News to be told? Matthew is active, Dimebog is active, Daedolon is active, DT is always ready to help...dude, just wait a bit longer.

And the merging of ATARI and Infogrames ain't a thing to skip, if you ask me, I would do this, too,

Hey, guys, I wrote some code for some of the trickier weapons and it can be found in this thread at AMC:

http://amc.planetduke.gamespy.com/sm...p?topic=7873.0

It was written for the other Blood TC, but you are free to use it. I wrote some code for the pitchfork, so that it stabs with the four points, spawning the decals in a row, and some code for the tommygun alt-fire to make it sweep back and forth.

Thanks a lot DT, I'll look into that soon.

I am glad to inform the faithful that the project is still alive. There have been certain obstacles on the course, and certain things we were promised by certain people, which might have helped our project or rendered it obsolete (in luckier circumstances) but we grew tired of waiting and so we are slowly picking things up again.

I'll prepare a report soon and tell you guys about the website and some new things about the project that we originally meant to keep as a surprise.

Fresh Blood must flow.

Stay fresh.

A total conversion based on an existing game's mechanics even, which takes even longer due to the added difficulties of all the guesswork, replication of what is ultimately unknown behavior, et cetera. Maybe some of the research that went into TransFusion will be useful.

If people think TC's are easy to make, try it yourself, i tried it once ( 2 years ago ) and i all i did was reading and figuring on how to do it, damn i respect them for creating a blood TC for Duke, games like blood are fantastic games but maybe they'll never come back, i played this game when i was young and i loved it, i played duke when i was young and i loved it, but we maybe never get a new blood game, so i really apreciate what they are doing here and there, thanx !

We have quite a bit to show and announce in the following weeks.

A 'brand new blog' will by implication have no news and media, heh. I just said that's where you will be getting them in future. Say, from tomorrow on.

Hmmm interesting. But it sucks that the most part of it is about the ROR and how important it is AND why you can't progress without it instead of what you managed to do actually .

Shadowgun is ok but also I'm not impressed. IMO it sucks to have 2 weapons that look similar even if modified.

I would be more impressed if you showed some more real blood stuff that you've managed to recreate.

Keep up the good work!

I figured I should educate people about why exactly porting BLOOD to any Duke engine is impossible. Not everyone who might be reading that understands those things.

But I never implied that we can't progress until that feature is implemented. Don't know where you read that. We are just going to have to continue by making new levels which do not employ that trick, instead of attempting to port any of the original levels.

So I'm sorry if the project does not meet your expectations of doing something that is completely impossible. At least we are not going to lie that we are going to port BLOOD flawlessly (like some people do), because we know that it is currently impossible. That is why we are attempting to make a fresh experience which is as close to BLOOD as possible, but with new and original things where our creativity doesn't clash with the canon.

As for the Shadowgun, we just MIGHT make a sprite based on a brand new model if we can get one made, but for now I don't see a reason for that.

What RoR? The feature is not officially supported in eDuke32, and doesn't function properly. It's not usable in practice.

Well obviously we do not have the Polymer beta ourselves, nor we don't want to force people to get SM3.0 cards just to get a working RoR.

I really like what you guys are doing. I think a straight port of Blood is somewhat of a waste. I'd never play it, unless someone released a map or something.

I completely agree with this, I think that a straight port would be a waste. I mean just buy it from E-bay or whatever if you want the original game.

I think this is a cool way for the C2G team to make good use of the BUILD (Duke3D) engine and do a cool sidestory for BLOOD.

Also limitations always allow for more creativitiy. ^o^

Thank you for the support, everyone.

Also, I hope nobody understood from the blog that we are complaining about the lack of the mirror stacking feature. We are very thankful for the engine itself and the amount of customization it provides. We fully appreciate what the eDuke32 team is doing and we hope that they continue with great success in the future. New features are not required, but they are welcome and appreciated, as long as the engine itself maintains a decent backward-compatibility and portability.

While it would be nice to be able to simply port the original maps from Blood, if that's not possible I think you guys should just concentrate on making your own maps in the Blood style. Recreating the original maps seems like a lot of unnecessary work when one could simply pick up Blood itself and play them.

Nice update though, hope to see more soon.

Pretty much. The upcoming new renderer supposedly has ROR support, but the 'bad' thing is the system requirements for that new renderer are pretty steep if your computer is held together with glue and ducktape, like mine (in a matter of speaking obviously)

Anyway looks neato!

That's what we're aiming at, if you want to play Blood, then launch up DOSBox and you're good to go. We're trying to give you a new Blood experience, kinda like a new fan episode, just with sweet new content that's never seen before (which is why this particular project is done for EDuke32).

This just confirms that you're willing to do it. We shouldn't be expected to make a re-visioned version of a 1997 title that requires 2007 equipment to run (and not very well with those anyway).

Plus no-one ever said we personally can't run it, it's just a stupid standpoint to make something that only 5-10% of the targeted market can run.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Well, personally I don't have to buy a new vga card. My gpu can handle the new renderer.

But even if you don't plan to play with eduke32's new renderer (when it will be out), you cannot play in decent speed any game that released from 2005 and forward. Unless you change you card.

So if you buy a new cheap card, you will not do it just for eduke32.

Source? I bought a good graphics card capable of SM3 some months ago (though it's installed on a different PC) and that one costed 70 euros. I doubt an 8400 GS is going to cost less than that by now.

Anyway what good is a new graphics card if you still have inferior RAM and processor? I would have to upgrade my entire system which would, obviously, cost a bit more than 35 euros.

If someone hasn't updated their video card to something that features SM3 so far, I doubt C2G will be good enough a reason to do it now. Also, your motherboard needs to be able to support such a video card. And unless you have enough CPU and RAM to make a rational use of it in this day and age of gaming, I doubt you would cash out 70-100 euros (80-130 dollars) just to be able to play C2G with RoR and nothing else.

People who are anticipating the release of C2G the most are people who can't run BLOOD in DosBox because their machines are not that up-to-date. Imagine if we told people that they need a modern rig to be able to play C2G. Seems kind of counter-productive, as availability on a broader spectrum of configurations is one of the strongest points of the project, and one of the reasons why we would mod eDuke32, and not BLOOD itself.

I implmented ROR in WinBlood, Terminx asked me to do it awhile ago if theres still a need for it I can look back in my old back ups to see if I can find my ROR code and dump it into the EDuke32. But now I have to go back and drop some shit off with my XO, before he shoots my ass Ill look when I get off of base.

I am well aware of the fact that you made the trick work flawlessly in WinBlood. However we can't force you to do it again. It would be extremely sweet, but it's up to you. I believe we already had a similar conversation several months ago and you said you will look into it.

I think you missed his point. However I'm pretty sure that you can put "dynamic lightsprites" in that would be 'visible' in Polymer while still being playable in Polymost. Kinda like how a 3D model shows up as a sprite if you don't have models enabled. So in that sense, putting in some extra stuff for optional use with Polymer doesn't mean that people who don't meet the system requirements can't play it.

I don't have anything against optional things, but RoR is either there or it's not there. You can't just 'turn it off' for people who can't view it. That's why we have to know where we stand before we can build the campaign.

Oh god, when I wrote that paragraph about the optional use I completely forgot the discussion was about RoR. I was thinking about dynamic lighting. My bad, my bad In this case then yes, stick with Polymost and using sprites.
