Make your HTPC blu-ray region free
Decided to give a hand to anyone else who finds this a problem.
Most BD-ROM drives do not have a built-in blu-ray region code protection and the whole ordeal is handled via the playback software itself, such as PowerDVD or WinDVD. AnyDVD HD removes the region code limitation in real time - which in turn requires cracking the AACS/BD+ protection, and on myself this eats up enough system resources to cause very choppy playback so AnyDVD is pretty much useless to me as far as blu-rays are concerned. Free alternatives merely reset the region code counter in the player itself. Digital Digest offers instructions on how to do this manually, and you can even find apps that perform this task for you, such as this one here.
