Redneck Rampage/Blood retexturing
If it were recoded into either Duke Nukem 3D's build engine or Shadow Warriors Build engine Cons would people be interested in High Res Texturing for Blood or Redneck Rampage?

I would have been interested in doing some stuff for RNR, but with my time constraints, I'm concentrating on portfolio pieces - and sadly the BUILD engine does not support next-gen models.

A Blood HRP would rock.

The reason that neither has an HRP is that the source code has not been released. I'm not sure about Redneck Rampage, but the Blood source has been hidden at the back of a warehouse at Atari, probably never to be seen by the eyes of Man ever again.

Again, we should wait for RNR and Blood to have a usable port before even thinking of making HRP for it. If this was done, i'd be all for this and even put my texturing talents to work with it too.

It would be possible to play Redneck Rampage under EDuke32 with unmodified maps and art files, but it would take a lot of CON work beforehand to emulate all of the modifications to the game executable that we don't have the source for.

Correct. I find it sad that so many good build based games can't be run with quality potential because the devs forgot all about there old product. Strife is probably one of the most well known to see this fate, but somehow some dedicated people got a port out for it.

I have never played Rednack Rampage, but I like what I see on YouTube. It seems like another quirky, funny FPS from the 90's BUILD era.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caOPx-VRbFU

I cannot imagine playing it without some kind of port to Xp however. (thank goodness for YouTube!)

Blood is another game I have missed out on. Again, it would be worth a try for me, if it only had a proper port to Xp.

Yes, Blood plays great on DOSBox... and the demo episode for Blood is awesome. But, good luck finding a copy of Blood if you want to legally buy a retail copy.

Extremely rare and hard to find. And no, I'm not selling any of my copies.

Doubtful... it would be nice, but probably not so.
As it stand right now, I have a few copies of Blood... and I'm trading one with Iggy for one of his copies of the UK release of Blood.

But that's it. All the rest are mine forever. And any other Blood stuff I scrounge up is mine as well. I'm always looking for more.

Blood was very cool. I wish I had got a copy back in the day.
Witchhaven was purchased by a friend of mine and we played it for about 20 minutes - it was truly dreadful!

RR was fun, but it got kinda repetitive after a while. After about 3 levels, the Redneck joke wore thin and after 5 levels I got bored. Its mainly known for it's sense of humor. The sound bytes are nearly as good as Dukes. I still sometimes say "Geet ohhfff mah layend!"

I once had a visitor from Redneck Rampage. I was living in (Very) rural Florida and a freind of ours dropped by. He got out of the drivers seat and said hi. The passenger door opened and out stepped Billy Ray Jeeter! Thankfully minus the shotgun, but identical in every other respect right down to the bare feet.

RR was okay, average at best. The jokes wore thin after a while and even the cuss pack couldn't keep them funny. And level design in the game was horrid... the sewer level... dear god.
So frustrating.

Their are like, 15 copies on amazon right now. 5 copies of "Cryptic Passage", 4 copies of the "Plasma Pack" and there are even 8 copies of "One Unit Whole Blood" too.

I hope you're being sarcastic...

Full boxed copies. That's what I'm referring to, as full retail boxed copies are the only thing I will buy... and I know a ton of other people here and other places that will only buy full boxes as well.

I hit up amazon and Ebay weekly.

No, just going off the info provided. It did say factory sealed... he just didn't specify that it was a factory sealed CD case.

That's the one bad thing about amazon.com... you can get completely screwed if you don't check up on stuff.

What about the releases that didn't come with a box? The ones that were just in standalone jewel cases in the racks at the likes of Wal-Mart. I'm pretty sure that's where I first found the shareware version of Blood way back in the day. You can collect those releases too.

Yeah, both vanilla BLOOD and OUWB were sold in sealed jewel cases aside for boxed copies. That copy on Amazon likely never had a box in the first place. And no, you don't really need a box. You especially don't have to be an elitist when it comes to rare and discontinued games. Just get whatever copy you can find and enjoy it. Just because you can't find a boxed copy doesn't mean you shouldn't ever play the game.

I've got a few copies of Blood that didn't come with boxes, as you said, copies that are released in stores like Wal-Mart for ten bucks.
I have two copies like that. But now, since I'm just collecting and not really looking for a copy to play... I hold out for boxed copies.
