problems with importing static meshes
Hi all

im currently building a level for ut2k4 in unrealED 3.0

Ive been having some problems recently importing static meshes. ive been using 3ds Max 7 to model them and export them as ASCII, this has been working fine and ive built half my level this way so far.

However, all of a sudden my static meshes that im creating wont appear when i try and add them to my level. they are appearing when i import them under the static mesh tab, but when i right click in my 3d space and add "mesh name" it just wont appear.

I know this cant be my modelling because ive even tried using 3ds max default objects like boxes and teapots and they still wont import properly.

ive also tried reinstalling ut2k4 (including the ini's) to try and get around this but im still having the problems.

anyone know whats going wrong and can shed some light on the situation ?

thanks for reading

Did you try importing the mesh directly to the Build brush? (In the Menu under "Brush-->Import). I think you can import in dxf format.

If the mesh imports correctly, you should then be able to right-click on the Build brush and use the "Convert to Static Mesh" option.

I havnt tried that, im now on a different computer and the exporting/importing of ascII's are working fine on this one and everything is dandy!

however im still unsure what the problem is on the original computer.

as for importing to a build brush, would i export to dxf from 3ds max?

thanx
