Crosshair
What always bugged me is that the crosshair is taller than it is wide:

(Old left, new right)

Anyway I took a screenshot of how big the crosshair actually is in game, made an image that big, (32x39) and clipped the top off of the cross to make it look right.

I hope this hasn't already been done, I have the latest beta but I don't regularly check the Enhancing Duke's Spritely Appearance thread.

Fixed image attached

EDIT: Unless maybe the spokey thingies on it are too close together? Anyone else think that?

Ok it's not that hard to make it yellow, so here, I did it for you.

It annoyed me to no end and I was bored, I'm sitting at home all day doing nothing.

Btw its in the textures folder in your highres directory no. 2523 as it is in the filename.

Rellik66, you are doing great work with poser. Don't have it spoiled for you, just because Jblade disagrees.
So in other words, let's all ignore the criticisms because, hey it's someone's hard work and they shouldn't be criticised for it! Can't anybody handle any critcism without having people reassure them that it's not bad anymore? I'm giving valid arguments and they're just being swept under the rug because you don't want their feelings hurt.

Jblade,
I have few word on your support:
Dont take criticising of your criticism too close to your heart. Your criticism is one of the best criticisms available here. Is somebody dislikes it - he is free to try criticise himself and we'll see who's better at criticising!
But really, you too harsh on those poser models, since:
1. We currently have no other choice (apart illegal stuff)
2. Lot of people (including me) likes them.
That doesnt mean they are perfect - but after some photoshoping they may be close to best result possible.

But the problem is you can immediatly tell that they're poser models with one look. I've never used Poser myself but they stick out like a sour thumb. Poser models really don't look natural, they just look odd.

I know it's hard to get replacements for those textures but I don't think using something which barely resembles the old one is a good solution (The pose is the same but the women look too different and they're not actually attractive at all, in my own opinion at least)

I think people know what you think by now . Of course it is valid critics. Now lets try to come up with a better way to do the posters instead of just arguing over what good critics are. For the time being I'll be using the poser posters for the HRP since in my opinion the stick out a lot less then keeping the original textures.

One idea I have is the same that Zilpuri suggested namely render them in a more power full renderer. And from what I understand that is not against the poser license. Exporting the models and spreading them are. If it was not allowed to export them and render in another app I don't think they would add the export option at all.

The problem here to me is you aren't providing any useful critiques of my work other than: "It's Poser, it's obvious, doesn't fit (IMO), I don't like it." rather than the more useful "there's something odd about the redhead's face."

Truth be told, whatever the better solution is, I'm probably not the person to be doing it because of my extremely limited experience in art and 3d modelling. See, Poser makes both fairly easy.

But as of right now, I am the only one who has been willing to do anything with the girl posters.

As to exporting the scene, I really don't know the exact steps that would need to be done.

Here's my latest render, almost done. The redhead is a bit too tall and gets into the text. I won't able to get to it for most of today because of work.

I do value critiques, and I am willing respond with either "I will see what I can do", or "Unfortunately, that's a limitation of Poser"

Hey texture-people thingies. What's up?

I don't post much, infact, I basicly didn't post anything other than the questions I had regarding making multiple-pig-cop-skins appear randomly.

But anyway, when I saw this thread, something did come to mind. I agree with some of what's been said here, and I do I appreciate all the work that's being done, but like Dr.Kill, I saw an incorrectly remade TV referrance that's been freaking me out totally, so I thought I'd share it. Ok, check out textures 4120, 4121, and 4122. These are beautifully done, BUT they're not what the actual texture is supposed to be! These show a comet flying by, which, yeah, the original "looked" like, but in reality, the original was supposed to be a burning fuse. Think about it, these screens appeared in the level "It's Impossible" which has the Mission Impossible music parody, the tape recorders, the computer room, the doors, etc, all Mission Impossible referrances, and on the Mission Impossible TV show, it'd begin with a lit fuse burning. Do I think that this is some project-crippling detail that must be corrected immediately? No, but hey, this is an anal thread. So there you go.

Anyway, that's it for now. Keep up the good work, and I'd still be interested to know if there's any way to make multiple skins on models appear randomly.

The redhead's face is much better. Also, this is me being nitpicky, but shouldn't she have some stocking visible on her other leg too?

Also, maybe you should redo the brunette's face as well? The nose on her bugs me for some reason. Plus, it would seem inconsistent to redo one of the faces and not the other.

The gloss looks nice, but not necessarily better. Atleast there is too much of it. But I think it's matter of taste really if to use 'effect' like that...

As sort of off-topic: where can I find easy tool to browse .art files so that I can see the tile numbers? Or hopefully a way to extract all the stuff in .art to .bmp files?

The gloss is mostly to smooth out imperfections, and also I did it in combination with some saturations editing, afew tweaks to the red scope, a bit of brightness and contrast adjustment and afew other things. Basically, like I said to get rid of the immediate suggestion of "omg this is a render evil omg".

The lighting is about 1000 times more realistic looking, and gives everything a realistic grit with accurate shadows and radiosity.

This time the redhead is just under the text, and I tried tweaking the other girl a bit by raising the shoulders, plus I added a bit of raytracing on the floor so there's a bit of reflections.

I may commit this to the textures thread tommorrow with the rest of the stuff, but I figure I'd post it here first.

Talking about things that aren't like the original: why is the new movie theater girl dancing with guns? Who dances with guns? Who dances with guns holding them like that? In the original she had a boa; and this thus strikes me as odd, and sticks out like a sore thumb. Can she please have a boa again?
