Wolfenstein 3D voices
Hey all,
question thats been bugging me for years, who did the voices for Wolfenstein 3D? was it the ID guys or someone else? Bobby Prince maybe? Or Jason Blochowiak? Ive read on some websites that they hired authentic German speakers. I'd be really interested to find out exactly who did the voices.

I don't know who did the voices on the PC version.
I don't think they were German. They mispronounced words.
The 3DO version had redone voices that sound like real Germans.

Yeah, I know.
Sorry, I don't know the answer. I'd like to know also.
My guess is that it was just the id people.

I remember reading somewhere that it would have been Tom Hall and John Romero, but don't quote me on that.

"Mein Puta!"

There's some really weird stuff in the Wolf3D voice acting. It'd be interesting to know who came up with that stuff.

It's mostly id/Apogee guys. Right now I don't remember who did what, but Hitler was Scott Miller, I believe.

wow, hes got a great range! he sounded totally different as the white guard in ROTT! Although maybe there was a lot of post processing done on the voices, or they are really low quality that you cant tell.

Dude, this was 1992. There wasn't a ton of audio processing on these things. That was a totally different time. Things were done differently.

What Joe is trying to say is, they used a lot of witchcraft and magic.

Heres proof if you don't believe me:

Someone is using magic to draw Joe Sieglers image into the computer! . Its fuzzy I know, but what can you do... Back in those days they didnt have color... Color anything, you had to violently rip the film from the camera and take it to a witch doctor to get it to come out!

On Topic: Pretty sure that 3DO/MAC etc all used the authentic german voices,PC was done by id/apogee guys. Didn't the SNES version have totally different dialogue to accomodate the non-nazi theme? (evil space rats for the win.)

I think the real question is what do those Brown Guards actually say?! It's sounds like "kirschoff!" not that that's even a German word...actually it's so muddled that I have no idea what they say.

They say "Achtung!" Which translates to "Warning!" or "Attention!".

This FAQ says it all:

Yeah, try as I might I can't for the life of me discern anything that resembles "Achtung!" but...I suppose that's what they were trying to say.
